The Pacers had a tough time digesting the home loss they gave up to the Lakers on Friday.
The Indiana Pacers weren't a happy group following their loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night.
Frank Vogel was uncharacteristically short and agitated following the game as he spoke with the media. All of Vogel's frustrations were aimed at his team as he complained about the way his players fouled up the team's game plan and in the process allowed the Lakers to get loose and comfortable shooting the ball from behind the arc.
Indiana's league-leading defense requires a cohesive effort from all five guys on the floor and too many fouls (26) combined with too many open shooters reveals a severe breakdown in the process.
To make matters worse for the Pacers, as they were melting down at various points in the game, including the closing minutes, their poor play was greeted with cheers from full-throated fans supporting the Lakers. Local legend George Hill came up short trying to carry the Pacers down the stretch but didn't hold back in criticizing the home environment after the game.
Regardless of the crowd reaction, the Pacers need to worry about what they can control on the court as they try to figure out how to handle the rising expectations and continue to play like a top team in the Eastern Conference. That will have to start tonight when the Pacers visit the Philadelphia 76ers.
