Metta World Peace defends his defense; Kobe Bryant now game-time decision

USA TODAY Sports

The former Pacers forward didn't want to hear about Paul George's defensive prowess during a local interview on 1070 The Fan.

The Indiana Pacers host the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night and the buzz with the Lake Show in town continues to build as the opening tip approaches.

Kobe Bryant's injured ankle has garned plenty of local and national attention as the legendary shooting guard tries to rehab his way onto the court. Apparently, he's making progress since the Lakers and coach Mike D'Antoni upgraded Kobe's status to a game-time decision at the team's shootaround, according to Mike Wells.

Also on Friday morning, Metta World Peace joined the Grady and Big Joe show for an interview which ended in spectacular fashion with some signature Ronnie comments. After winding through the interview and describing his trips to Target as among his fondest memories of living in Indy, host Michael Grady expressed his interest in the upcoming matchup and mentioned that Paul George can play defense, too.

Ronnie seemed to take offense, went on to defend his defensive bona fides along with this fabulous closing line: "Nobody plays D like me so don't get it twisted." He then essentially dropped the mic, hanging up the phone to abruptly end the interview.

Paul George had a good chuckle over the exchange when he joined the show following Ronnie. PG also didn't shy away from the challenge. You gotta hear it, since these words can't possibly do it justice.

Check out the podcast of both interviews with Ronnie and PG.
