Frank Vogel is always looking for ways to motivate his team to continue rolling through the regular season like he did on Wednesday in Philly when he showed a clip from the movie Major League to pump his team up to stick it to the man and win their third game in three nights. No word if Vogel had a cardboard cutout of David Stern with a detachable women's dress suit.
With Toronto in town, all Vogel needs to do is show the mess that was the mid-November loss the Pacers dumped to Toronto, one of only three losses at home this season. If you recall the Pacers hadn't played in three days and the Raptors had played the night before, losing in triple overtime at home. Toronto won, 74-72 despite literally running out of gas as a team in the fourth quarter and scoring just five points.
Fortunately, the Pacers are nowhere near the same team they were that night. Neither are the Raptors after recently trading for Rudy Gay. Gay is always an imposing force lurking on an opponents wing and the Pacers thought they were done with him already after beating Memphis twice this season. Gay probably isn't too excited about seeing the Pacers and Paul George either. In the two games with Memphis, Gay combined to score 25 points on 39 shots while PG shadowed him around the court.
George will need his teammates to step up defensively, too. DeMar DeRozan will be a tough cover for Lance Stephenson and Kyle Lowry is always tough to deal with at the point.
