The Indiana Pacers look to pick up a game on the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference standings when the two team meet at the Fieldhouse. After splitting the first two games with the home team winning, the Pacers desperately need to hold their home court and stay in position to hold the tie breaker over the Knicks.
With the tight standings in the East, locking up tie breakers among the other contenders becomes a big deal. Earlier in the day, Frank Vogel said his team is ready to go tonight and the game already has a playoff feel to it. So, despite the time off, expect some spirited play at the Fieldhouse tonight.
The Knicks depth can create matchup problems for the Pacers, but their front court depth has been depleted of late with Rasheed Wallace and Marcus Camby nursing injuries. Mike Woodson has been going small of late with Carmelo Anthony at power forward and Raymond Felton, Jason Kidd and Iman Shumpert all starting. Vogel expects to have Paul George play every minute Melo does, so who will David West guard?
The Pacers will have a chance to exploit the matchup difference with their size and if not, then Sam Young, Orlando Johnson or Gerald Green will have to step up off the bench.
