Coach Frank Vogel made headlines earlier in the day for missing the shootaround with some form of sickness, leaving him a game-time decision to coach (which sounds kinda funny). Sounds like Vogel will need to force waiters to take the first bite of his food or travel with a food tester for these hostile road games. As for the players on the court, the Pacers expect everyone minus Danny Granger, as usual for at least one last game.
The Heat are monitoring the balky ankle of LeBron James after he tweaked it against Utah on Monday. James missed the team's shootaround today and will treat the ankle up until the game time. In the last meeting, James huffed and puffed his way through the second half and had to stop guarding Paul George.
That move freed PG to get his offense going in the second half after struggling mightily in the first half. PG seemed to get caught up in trying to duel James early in the game and the results were not good. Forcing the action rarely looks good on 24, so he has to remain in his lane and rise up to make plays within the normal flow of the offense as he has much of the year.
The Heat will likely continue to go small in an effort to draw Roy Hibbert away from the rim and run their perimeter motion offense to create open looks. This demands dominance on the glass from Hibbert and David West, along with getting both quality looks to take advantage of their size around the rim.
