Pacers final score: Pacers grab win over Heat 90-84

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Indiana stay perfect at home after making a second half comeback against Miami.

Two heavyweights took the ring tonight in Indianapolis and the home team Indiana Pacers came up winners against the Miami Heat thanks to a second half comeback. The Pacers fell behind in the first quarter by double figures due in part to turnovers, but also keyed in Miami offensive play. Miami led 30-19 at the end of the quarter and moved the lead to 13 towards the end of the second half. The Pacers were heavily turnover prone, with 13 of their 21 turnovers in the first half.

Indiana upped their defensive intensity in the second half, holding Miami to just 34 second half points. Paul George turned a poor first half where he went 0-4 from the field into a 15-point second half as one of four Pacers in double figures. Roy Hibbert led the way for the blue and gold with 24 points on 10-15 shooting and David West followed up with 17 points. Lance Stephenson had a solid outing with 12. The Pacers controlled the glass for much of the night, winning the rebounding battle 43-33. They forced some turnovers late and trimmed a healthy Miami advantage in points off turnovers down to just eight by the end of the game. Hibbert and George did an impressive job limiting the impact of LeBron James, who led Miami with 17 points and 14 rebounds on 6-16 shooting.
