Pacers Links: Pacers release Dominic McGuire, expect to re-sign Sam Young

Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE

The Pacers let Dominic McGuire go after his last 10-day contract expired and will reportedly re-sign Sam Young who was with the team earlier in the season. The Pacers will try to salvage a 2-2 road trip when they face the hot Nuggets on Monday night.

The Indiana Pacers will once again look for some winning answers on the road when they visit the Denver Nuggets on Monday night.

After starting their trip with such promise last Monday in Memphis, the Pacers are now just trying to return to the Fieldhouse even Steven before heading into a high-profile homestand.

Before heading home the Pacers released forward Dominic McGuire since his final 10-day contract is up. According to Mike Wells, the Pacers are hoping bring back Sam Young. Young was released after suffering a severe sprained ankle earlier in the month.

The Pacers let Young go initially to save a few bucks by not having to guarantee his contract for the remainder of the season. Now that young is presumably healthy, the Pacers can sign him at the veteran minimum. The pacers could use Young's fresh legs as Lance Stephenson appears to have hit a wall recently and Gerald Green continues to struggle. Young also gives more size than Orlando Johnson to guard wing players. Plus, more competition for playing time may snap Stephenson out of his funk and keep those reserve wings fighting for minutes.

In other news, the Boston Celtics lost Rajon Rondo for the season on Sunday with a knee injury. At best, the C's will likely remain in the 8th spot in the East. Philadelphia is currently 2.5 games back and would be the most likely team to jump ahead of the C's. The injury also increases the possibility that the C's will ship a few key players before the trade deadline. Oh, and with all of that drama, Boston beat the Miami Heat in overtime on Sunday.
