This Day in Pacers History: January 12

It's been the big men who have given the Pacers trouble on this date in the 2000s. Meanwhile, in 1985, Indiana had a classic battle with New York despite Indiana shooting so well.

  • 1977: Indiana won its sixth straight game with 33 points from Billy Knight in a 112-101 win over Boston.
  • 1978: Buffalo went on an 18-0 run to close out the third quarter to give the Pacers a 111-92 loss.
  • 1980: Bob McAdoo scored a game-high 25 points, but six different Pacers scored in double-digits to prevail over the Pistons 122-109.
  • 1982: Indiana had a sluggish first half due to scoring only 30 in the first two quarters that led the Pacers falling to the Trail Blazers 105-93.
  • 1983: Clark Kellogg put in a 24-point, 14 rebound night, but it wasn't enough to cut the Nets. Buck Williams had a double-double of his own that helped New Jersey beat Indiana 120-114.
  • 1985: Indiana shot 56 percent from the floor, but New York hung around to keep things close all night. A half-dozen Pacers scored in double-digits in a 100-95 win.
  • 1990: The Knicks and Pacers met five years later, and the final margin was also at five. This time around, New York beat Indiana 101-96 thanks to Patrick Ewing's 20 points and 11 rebounds.
  • 1991: Micheal WIlliams had a really good night from the floor scoring a team-high 19 points leading his Pacers to a 118-110 win over Milwaukee. Indiana shot 58 percent while Williams missed one shot all night.
  • 1993: Indiana's defense held Philadelphia to under 40 percent shooting in a 112-93 win.
  • 1994: Reggie Miller scored a game-high 29 points in a 107-96 home win over the Nuggets.
  • 2000: Jalen Rose scored 25 points that led Indiana to a 117-102 win over the struggling Wizards.
  • 2002: Dirk Nowitzki scored 31 points while the Pacers actually shot better from the floor, but still fell short to Dallas 111-102.
  • 2007: Dallas rallied every time the Pacers had them against the ropes, but Dallas came out on top thanks to Nowitzki's 43 points in a 115-113 overtime loss for Indiana.
  • 2008: Indiana held the lead all night long giving them a much needed road win over the Kings.
  • 2009: Mehmet Okur had 43 points that made the difference and a 120-113 Jazz win.
  • 2011: Indiana and Dallas played once again, but this time, it was Pacers guard Brandon Rush who led the game in scoring with 20 points in a 102-89 win.
  • 2013: Indiana faces off against Charlotte.
