It's the new year, so let's start it off right with some rosterbating. We all at least secretly love it.
Pacers have already stated that everyone on the roster is available to trade save for Hill and PG. Which makes sense to me. I'll add Plumlee into this category as well. They didn't waste a 1st round pick on a 2nd rounder for nothing.
Players likely to be traded include Hans, Pends and DJ
Players with low value: DJ, Pends, Granger (till he starts playing at least), Green
Players with medium value: Hans, OJ, Young(defensive value)
Players with good value: Lance, Ian, Hibbert(defensive value)
Players with great value: West
The bench as a whole has been pretty bad this season. The backup pg position is critically bad, followed by the pf spot. The Pacers MUST address the backup point position if they want to make a run in the playoffs.
The offensive system has shown that traditional point guards won't succeed for whatever reason. The backup point has to be a guy that can stretch the floor by hitting the outside shot. A plus defender would be nice too and not a sieve like DJ and Ben.
Potential targets should include:
Jarrett Jack Warriors are a playoff team and won't trade, but oh how I wish. Pacers should target him in the offseason though
-Reggie Jackson (just a personal fav, but I think he has the makings of something special)
-Eric Bledsoe (likely too expensive, but should be an option to look into)
Now I don't know if West should be traded or not. He's a leader and a winner, and that's not easy to replace. But should the Pacers invest a lot of money in an aging vet? Is that smart? Hibbert is already an expensive investment that isn't panning out right now. Can they afford to take a chance on West too? The value they could get for West could be very good.
Let the rosterbating begin!
