At this time next week, the Indiana Pacers will have two distinguished and deserving former players officially enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, MA.
ABA legend Mel Daniels and legendary big-shot taker and big-shot maker, Reggie Miller will be honored next Friday night. The ceremony will be televised live on TNT and NBA.com starting at 7:30 p.m ET so clear your schedule accordingly.
NBA TV will also be airing all of Reggie's classic games throughout the week along with a special, Looking Back at Reggie, scheduled to air on Tuesday, September 4th at 7:00 p.m ET. Here's an excerpt from the special along with a video clip of Reggie discussing Spike Lee.
Miller reflecting on his career: "At the end of the day, ultimately, people are going to judge you on winning championships, but it's the ride in between that is so great. The journey of the ups and downs, the teammates along the way, playing at Riverside [Riverside Polytechnic High School], at UCLA, with the [Indiana] Pacers, the coaches, you learn a lot about yourself. I heard that if you surround yourself with positive people, which I did, good things will happen. I didn't win the ultimate prize, but it was so fun trying. I loved it."
I encourage everyone to enjoy this monumental week for the Pacers' franchise. I'd also love to hear your thoughts and memories from the two Hall of Famers. Please feel free to let 'em all out in the Fan Posts.
