With all the recent discussions around the NBA on whether or not any other team could beat the original Dream Team, I decided to try to do so. After messing with the idea a bit, I came up with a team that I believe could compete with the Dream Team. I tested my theory with whatifsports.com.

My team is made up of players from the 2008-09 NBA season.

Here's the roster alongside the Dream Teamers. Keep in mind that the players are from 2009.

Center - Dwight Howard & Tim Duncan vs. Ewing & Robinson

Power Forward - Chris Bosh, Kevin Garnett, & Amare Stoudemire vs. Barkley, Malone, & Laettner

Small Forward - LeBron James, Kevin Durant, & Carmelo Anthony vs. Pippen, Bird, & Mullin

Shooting Guard - Dwyane Wade & Kobe Bryant vs. Jordan & Drexler

Point Guard - Chris Paul & Deron Williams vs. Johnson & Stockton

Note: I used 91-92 versions of all Dream Teamers except Magic (90-91) and Laettner (92-93)

In 50 total simulations, the Dream Team won 27-23. They were 17-8 as the home team, but only 10-15 with the 2009 team as the home team. Most of the games were close.

So, my question to you is: how do YOU think this team would do against the Dream Team?
