The Indiana Pacers will hold a public press conference in the Bankers Life Fieldhouse entry pavilion on Friday at 4:00 p.m. ET to announce the signings of Roy Hibbert and George Hill. While the two starters will get plenty of attention, I'm sure Kevin Pritchard and Donnie Walsh will get plenty of questions about the other offseason moves they made this week.
The Pacers have officially made changes to the second unit by trading for Ian Mahinmi and signing free agents Gerald Green and D.J. Augustin. According to Mike Wells, the Pacers are done barring a trade offer they can't refuse. As they said from the start of the summer, the Pacers kept their starting five together and made moves to improve their second unit.
At this point, they have simply changed their second unit because it is impossible to project improvement with the three new players. With Mahinmi and Green, the Pacers are betting on the come, hoping both players continue to develop into consistent contributors off the bench.
The Pacers are also betting on a few summer league players to step up as well. Lance Stephenson, Miles Plumlee and Orlando Johnson will be fighting for a role in the rotation when training camp rolls around in October but today they complete their week of games at the Orlando Pro Summer League when they play the Brooklyn Nets at 2:00 p.m. ET.
