According to TNT/NBA TV's David Aldridge, the Indiana Pacers will be one of the teams in hot pursuit of Steve Nash when the free agent signing period opens up on Sunday. Nash is in New York and expected to hear from four other heavy hitters, as well.
Here's the tweet from Aldridge:
Knicks, Heat, Pacers, Raptors & Suns expected to make their pitch to Steve Nash Sunday, per source. Not certain if all teams will be in NYC.
Obviously the Pacers could use Steve Nash even for a year or two with his playmaking ability which extends to making plays for others on the floor which is not the strong suit of Darren Collison and George Hill. The other obvious news from this Aldridge tweet is that Kevin Pritchard is no joke and doing a mighty fine job of getting the Pacers name in the mix on these free agent reports. Even if Nash or Brandon Roy don't sign with the Pacers, reports linking them to the Pacers help raise the profile of the franchise and the situation for other talent around the league.
