According to ESPN's Chad Ford, Darren Collison could land the Pacers a lottery pick. During his usual chat on ESPN.com, he told a reader that New Orleans (pick 10) and Portland (picks 6 and 11) could be interested in Collison. Check out the excerpt from Ford below.

If the Hornets are looking to trade Pick 10 for a young veteran, who are some of the potential targets?

Darren Collison, Eric Bledsoe, Evan Turner I've heard a lot. Ditto for Paul Millsap of the Jazz.

By the way, I'm told the Blazers are looking at the same group of players at 11 if they decide to trade the pick.

Check out after the jump if Indiana could make a deal with the Hornets or Trail Blazers involving Collison.

This is just vague speculation, but it shows that there's a chance it could happen. Michael Grady of 1070 The Fan even brought up the topic this morning on his radio show. Indiana certainly can't go wrong with making a deal like this. Honestly, to me it's like stealing candy from a baby if the Pacers pull this one off.

If this were to happen, Indiana would likely need to sweeten the pot a little bit more for one of these teams to bite. The Pacers would likely have to throw in another player like Tyler Hansbrough, the 26th pick, and likely a future first round pick as well for a team to accept an offer. Personally, I would do it in an instant.

Both of these teams are in dire need of a point guard who can facilitate the ball, but also be a good scorer. Collison could surely provide that. We thought the Pacers scored a coup by bringing in Collison for just Troy Murphy, but he hasn't lived up to his full expectations yet. He was supplanted by George Hill in February when he got injured and Frank Vogel never looked back afterwards. DC would surely be a nice backup to Hill, but he would likely want another chance to start in this league.

If the Pacers did vault up to either 10 or 11, they would likely target a point guard with Collison being shipped out. Likely Damian Lillard and Kendall Marshall would still be on the board for us there. You can pick your poison who you want Indiana to take between those two. Lillard would be a great scoring point guard, while Marshall would be the floor general we need. Marshall is a pass-first point guard we've been trying to have for awhile now.

Also, this would move Hill back to his more natural position in shooting guard. Having George come off the bench behind Paul George would be a nice change for us. Ever since Hill left the second unit, they seemed to sputter badly to end the season and in the playoffs.

Sorry Darren, but if Indiana has a chance to make this type of deal we have to do it. Both of these point guards would be superior talents to Collison and have a higher ceiling.

I bring it back to you guys, would you make this deal if it presents itself.? I certainly would do it to draft a superior talent in either Lillard or Marshall. Vote on the poll and express your comments down below if the Pacers should try to make this deal a reality. We'll keep you updated on the newest rumors as the draft approaches.
