The Pacers wrapped up their fifth workout today at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Could it be the last for the Pacers as the draft is only nine days away? Indiana currently doesn't have any workouts scheduled for tomorrow or any other time in advance.
Indiana worked out six prospects once again today. Those players were Fab Melo (Syracuse), Miles Plumlee (Duke), Jarrod Jones (Ball State), Kyle O'Quinn (Norfolk State), Chris Johnson (Dayton), and Jonathon Simmons (Houston).
Check out after the jump how one person described Melo's performance at the workout today.
Mike Wells said today on Twitter that one person at the workout had a great opinion on how the Syracuse big man worked out. Check out the tweet below:
Those who watched Syracuse's Fab Melo during his workout w the Pacers 2day were very impressed. "He was off the charts," one person said— Mike Wells (@MikeWellsNBA) June 19, 2012
That's a pretty good opinion from someone watching the workout I must say so myself. Melo was the biggest man at today's workout alongside the five other prospects. He showed off a 15 foot jumper that I didn't see much from him when I watched him play at Syracuse. This likely shows that the hard work is paying off for the Brazilian big man. Fab averaged eight points, six rebounds, and three blocks per game for Syracuse last season.
He would be a nice backup to Roy Hibbert for the next five plus years. Melo would be a project, but if he continues to develop he could be a steal in this draft. Roy even said he expects for the Pacers to draft a big man to back him up when he chatting with fans on ESPN last week.
