The Miami Heat are the Perfect Example as to Why Fans Should Boycott the NBA

I'll be honest with you. I said I was gonna stop watching this series after the 1st game. Like every other Indy native I love the Pacers just as much as the next man. Regardless of my affection for them, I can no longer support the "product" that we have come to know as the "NBA" or "Nothing But Actors League." It is an utter joke in my opinion. I honestly don't see the difference between it and the WWF. Small market teams like the Pacers, Cavs, and just about every other team that lacks the star power of teams like the Lakers and Heat, not only have to go against the team's stars, but also the preferential treatment those players get from the refs. The fact that through the 1st 4 games of the Pacers/Heat series, Lebron James had a grand total of 3 fouls called against him while at the other end of the floor if a Pacer so much as breaths on him they get the whistle is beyond ridiculous. There's nothing more nauseating than hearing the commentators talk about Lebron and DWade as if they are the "best thing since sliced bread." Worse, is listening to them inaccurately call the Heat "The best team in basketball." I have seen enough of the Heat to know that they don't resemble anything close to a team at all. In truth, they are a one trick pony, play ground pickup game carnival act that relies on the athleticism of its big 3 90% of the time while being supported by a bunch of castoffs who couldn't beat a HS basketball on their own. They are atrocious in the half court set and try to get out and run as much as possible to hide that deficiency.

The NBA is a game I used to love back when teams actually played "basketball." Before all of the rule changes and incorporating the zone defense, you could appreciate the one on one defensive skills of players like Micheal Cooper and Gary Payton. Now, teams like Miami and last year's champs Dallas are toted as "good defensive teams." I'm sorry, but no. Being able to play zone defense doesn't mean you are a good defensive team. It just means you have 5 guys on the court who can't play their man straight up and need the benefit of a "zone" to help hide the lack of skill they have to individually shut their man down. The Heat not only benefit from the zone, but they also benefit from the preferential treatment their stars get from being pampered by the refs. And hey don't get mad at the refs. They are only following orders from the big wigs who exploit the star studded teams like the Heat. Why? The more games the Heat play, the more money goes in their pocket from the ratings. This is why the Heat were the most televised team in the league. The NBA is exploiting them by milking the team's 3 superstars and using them to sell their product to the world. This has been something that has been going on since the days of Jordan and the Bulls. It continued with Shaq, Kobe & the Lakers as well as KG, Pierce, Ray Allen and the "Cs."

The NBA has gone from a league of parity to a league that will damn near do whatever it takes to make sure that at least one of it's large money market teams is playing for a ring at the end of the postseason. This series between the Pacers and Heat is a prime example of just how hard it is for a small market team like the Pacers who A) Will have a difficult time reeling in any top free agent no matter how much money they have under the cap, and B) are made a mockery as a result of their lack of star power, to stand any real chance of ever beating the NBA's elite star studded organizations. The Heat without the refs are a hard enough team to beat. They're damn near impossible with the refs on their side. Small market teams like the Pacers, Cavs, and Bucks deserve the same amount of respect as any other team. The fan bases of each deserve to experience the thrill of not only watching their home town teams play for a championship, but also winning one. Since the current producers of the NBA refuse to level the field of play for all, I have decided to boycott the game of professional basketball. I refuse to put another red nickel into the pockets of these greedy, arrogant pigs who have not only destroyed this game, but also insult the intelligence of its fans. I hope many will follow in my footsteps. It's the only way to get the attention of the people responsible for destroying this game. Hitting them in the pocket books in essence is hitting them where you do the most damage.
