2012 NBA Playoffs, Pacers Vs. Magic: Stan Van Gundy And Frank Vogel Comment Before Game

The Indiana Pacers and Orlando Magic are about an hour away from tipping off their first round playoff series at Bankers Life Fieldhouse and both coaches have spoke.

Stan Van Gundy expects to have all of the walking wounded on his roster available aside from, ahem, Dwight Howard. What available exactly means for Hedo Turkoglu and Glen "Big Baby" Davis is not exactly clear, but they will all give it a go. Stan Van is concerned with the size advantage the Pacers have when you consider Roy Hibbert will be faced with Big Baby at center. He expects his team to do its damage from the perimeter without attacking the rim.

Doth protest too much?

Frank Vogel is not interested in pounding the ball into Hibbert all game and slowing things down to a crawl. He wants his team to stay on the attack and "spread the wealth," a phrase he repeated a few times for emphasis. Considering the Pacers depth advantage, that should give the blue and gold more options.

Vogel also said the team has spent practice time on their two off days tweaking their spread pick and pop defense to account for the Magic shooters getting loose around the arc. Plus, Leandro Barbosa is a go for the game and should be available for his regular minutes in the rotation which will remain pared down without Dahntay Jones playing any wing minutes.
