Here is the article on ESPN rumors, looks like all the Bird haters got their wish:
"Indiana Pacers president Larry Bird has hinted the last few years that his time with the NBA team could be coming to an end and reportedly it will at the conclusion of this season.
Peter Vecsey of the New York Post reports Bird has decided to retire.
According to Vecsey, owner Herb Simon will not pick general manager David Moray or personnel director Kevin Pritchard to succeed Bird as the president. Donnie Walsh will also not return to the team.
Reportedly the leading candidates to be the next team president might be Chris Mullen or Reggie Miller."
Now, I will be excited to see Reggie back (if true) but....this makes me nervous, big time! I love the job Bird has done, and I'm scared to see him leave as soon as this franchise is heading in the right direction. Not sure who we actually bring in or who Herb is truly considering. I just hope whoever it is, doesn't screw things up - ala throw FA max deals (bad contracts, we just got out of that), trades away our core players, etc. Thoughts?
