Paul George To Play In Rising Star Challenge On NBA All-Star Weekend

There is no doubt that Indiana Pacers second-year shooting guard Paul George is a rising star in the NBA, so it is only fitting that PG was named to play in the 2012 BBVA Rising Stars Challenge on Friday, February 24th during NBA All-Star weekend in Orlando.

"I appreciate the recognition, but I think this is a result of what our team is doing this year," said George. "I also think it's great for the Pacers franchise to be represented and I hope some teammates will be joining me in Orlando as members of the All-Star team."

Really excited for PG to be a part of this game and hopefully he'll be involved in one or more of the skills challenge events on All-Star Saturday night.. The kid was born to bring excitement to these types of events and it will be nice to have him doing it in a Pacers uniform.

Here are the rest of the players selected for the event.

Sophomore class: DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento Kings), Landry Fields (New York Knicks), Blake Griffin (Los Angeles Clippers), Gordon Hayward (Utah Jazz), Greg Monroe (Detroit Pistons), Tiago Splitter (San Antonio Spurs), Evan Turner (Philadelphia 76ers), and John Wall (Washington Wizards)

Rookie class: Kyrie Irving (Cleveland Cavaliers), Ricky Rubio (Minnesota Timberwolves), MarShon Brooks (New Jersey Nets), Brandon Knight (Detroit Pistons), Kawhi Leonard (San Antonio Spurs), Markieff Morris (Phoenix Suns), Tristan Thompson (Cleveland Cavaliers), Kemba Walker (Charlotte Bobcats), and Derrick Williams (Minnesota Timberwolves)

We need to have Reggie Miller, Tamika Catchings, and either PG or DG in the spot shooting contest. . . We would win hands down.
