The Indiana Pacers head to their personal house of horrors to take on the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night at Philips Arena. The Pacers have not only struggled to beat the Hawks in Atlanta the past few years (lost last eight at Atlanta) they have rarely come close.
The Hawks have lost three straight games and continue playing without Al Horford after he suffered a shoulder injury when the Hawks played at the Fieldhouse. After he left that game, the Pacers were able to keep Joe Johnson and Josh Smith in check and cruise to an impressive win. Just winning tonight will be impressive will also depend on the Pacers ability to keep Johnson and Smith in check.
Here is the Pacers.com preview. For a Dallas perspective, check out Peachtree Hoops. Also, after the game check out Pacers Overtime on WIBC 93.1FM with Eddie White. Need to have an Indy Cornrows mention on the show!

Every time the pacers go on the road,
I keep reading about how the Pacers have lost the past 8 or 9 or 10 games in a particular visiting arena. In other places, there’s no mention of any win-loss history so I guess it’s pretty much win some, lose some there but I have never heard of any arena where the Pacers have visited and won the past 8/9/10 games in that particular building.
Does anybody know if there’s any particular team the Pacers have beaten consecutively on the road in recent memory?
Are the fan posts missing on the side missing for others?

Have we made a defensive play yet?
I'm reading a book about anti-gravity. It's impossible to put down.// I wondered why the baseball was getting bigger, Then it hit me// A hole has been found in the nudist camp wall. The police are looking into it.
yea we lose

All that contact on Hansbrough and no call
and then they put Teague on the line at the other end for far less. Drives me crazy.
So are they saying that Ivan Johnson pushed Hansbrough into undercutting Teague?
Didn’t catch a good replay of it.
Has anyone ever died during an NBA game?

I know a few high schoolers have
Had heart failure during a game. My mom heard about it and made me go to the doctor to make sure I didn’t have their same rare condition.
Can someone explain D. Jones angle on that last defensive play.
He was basically offering Teague a lay-up
No
Seems everyone is playing defense the same way. Can’t figure it out either.
Ivan Johnson gets a Tech for hurting his own player
That’s nearly as bad as D Howard getting a Tech for arguing a call that was called
Well now we know that Atlanta is way better than the Pacers too
No reason to watch the rest of this game.
19 fast break points in a half?
insane

This is by far the worst effort that the Pacers have put forth in any game I've seen all year.
It’s one thing to be losing, but this is hard to watch.
Maybe crazy pills?

Has all the attention gone to Paul George's head?
And Roy and Danny don’t act like they know what’s going on. Tyler is at least trying.
If I remember correctly, the second buzzer beater ended up being called a two.
I can’t remember which game that was. The Atlanta announcers just said it was only West’s second three of the year.
lol
He sounds a bit like Andre the Giant at times

Chill
I know they are playing very uninspiring basketball right now, but given the brutal schedule that they have had thus far, these games are going to happen every once in a while. Last night the Jazz were down 21 or so and they ended up making it a came, so hopefully the Pacers will get back in it. If they don’t, whatever, it’s a long season and every team has its off nights.
I agree with you for the most part, but there have been some serious lapses in effort in this game.
I feel like the Orlando game on Saturday was an off night. This is a little more disheartening. But yeah, hopefully they’ve got a second half run in them.
I'm fundamentally against tanking games
But I will root for it since this is the one team they have to avoid if they want to make any noise in the postseason. I fear a series against Atlanta will make people think, “Boy, Indiana sure took a step back this year. They must not be that good after all.”
I'm pretty sure we handled Atlanta earlier in the year
so just because we are playing poorly so far tonight doesn’t mean we can’t play tough against them. It’s just one game. We still have a second half and play them one more time at home in March. Let’s see how that goes before we start fearing playing them in the playoffs.
Atlanta's had our number for a few years now.
Indiana hasn’t won a game in Atlanta in years—and a lot of them haven’t been close.
They did play well
But until I see more, I’m judging it a fluke based on the recent series between these two teams. I’m pretty optimistic generally, but that fades away quickly when it involves Atlanta, haha.
if it's any consolation,
philly and miami are down big also
Down 11
showing a lot of life! Atlanta seems to be hot and cold. Lets hope for a cold half from them
I suppose this is the typical 3rd quarter.

All starts
at the defensive side. Force a miss/turnover we must convert on the offensive side. Simple as that.
Defense looking better.
The offense will come. Wish PG would have pulled up for the midrange shot after getting his man in the air a few possessions ago.
Gotta wait for every team we face to make empty threats first
And swear they’ll make us pay the next game.
I thought
Johnson initiated all of the contact while PG just stood there. Refs must be getting nervous
Johnson did initiate all of the contact
Just unfortunate one is an All-Star vet and the other is a second year guy ESPN doesn’t think is one of the 25 best players under 25.
More evidence that ESPN is retarded.

Nobody is there
I figured they had better numbers than that. Even for a Wednesday.
Yeah
Thrown down IN FRONT of a ref. It’s like 2002 for the Kings all over again…
there it is.

Who would have guessed it would be between
LOUUUUUU! and McGrady? Like the guy who won $50,000 for the Super Bowl first score being a safety
Wait,
What? Why is Lou shooting FT?

When A.J. Price and Josh Smith
Are dueling from the three point line, you know it’s a game worth watching.
You're implying there is a winner in this case.

Haha no doubt
This effort seems lacking tonight more so than a tired legs. 2nd half is def been better.
philly lost already. miami about to losi in 30 secs.
we must win in 12 mins….or more
Magic had what appears to be 17 three pointers
They’re such a dangerous team when they hit those. The Heat are more perplexing in my opinion. That they have off games with that core much less so many off games just doesn’t add up to me.
Good 3rd
but still a lot of work to do. Not sure what that first half was all about but I know we can hang with these guys.
Incredibly late call on Zaza for pushing Roy in the back.
I’ll take it, but can’t figure out why calls seem so much later this season.
did he match those assists with turnovers?

I talked to Adam Sandler at the Orlando game, and he said...
… “These Pacers are good. Must be nice to have a team that doesn’t suck. I’m stuck with LA and NY.” lol
Looking at the box score.
they use a pretty small lineup it seems.

Can someone please tell Indy that they don't suck anymore?
It seems like they forget that every other win.
Sad thing
Idk, he starts games fine, but then gets fouls. This game isn’t really over, they just need to pick it up.
I think the 30 point game/reverse double-pump dunk made us forget he's still a 'potential guy'.
Hopefully the publicity didn’t go to his head.
agreed.
What a dumb foul by Hibbert though. He just jumped into him—Smith didn’t even fake a shot or anything.
i always fear Atlanta cuz they are athletic too
and i think we can have hibbert for cheap too
maybe he is so sick of our pacers tonight
that he doesnt find the need to
It's too bad we can't be dictating the terms.
If they’re playing small, we should be pounding it inside and getting all the boards. But clearly that hasn’t been the case.
How much is Roy hibbert worth?
i dun wanna pay him more than 10
Seriously, why not?
We have a good team. He does not have to go to a big market. Market will follow him here and he will have a chance to win one with west, pg, granger, hill and Tyler. Hopefully, Roy, too. Wishful thinking on my part
after that tough 2nd half last night
it’s hard to blame them. I can only imagine how tough those back to backs are when traveling like that. At least they closed out last night or this would seem much worse.
Gotta remember we had a hard fought game against Utah last night.
Then had to fly to Atlanta and face a very motivated Hawks team less than 24 hours later. We also have to remember that it’s VERY UNLIKELY that NBA players bring their all every night, especially in such long seasons.
I just hope we don't make a habit of it.
We a back to back with Memphis and Denver later this week with a travel night in between.
That's all fine
But from the start of the game it looked like they didn’t care about this one. Regardless of how last night went, I gotta think that even this team has some games where they don’t mind losing. I hate seeing them lose, and a lose like this sickens me.
I know I feel like that
Sometimes lol. Ugh I hate losing to Atlanta. I know we are better then these guys. We are the 3rd best team in the East, and I hate when we don’t show up. Kills me every time.
The game last night shouldn't have been that close. We sleep walked through most of it.
Just like tonight.
Tarheels are leading at the half
