Game Thread: Utah Jazz Vs. Indiana Pacers

Utah Jazz at Indiana Pacers, Feb 7, 2012 7:00 PM EST

February 7, 2012 - 7:00PM EST
Bankers Life Fieldhouse
Radio: 93.1FM WIBC TV: Fox Sports Indiana
Probable starters:
Devin Harris PG Darren Collison
Raja Bell SG Paul George
Gordon Hayward SF Danny Granger
Paul Millsap PF David West
Al Jefferson C Roy Hibbert

The Indiana Pacers take on the Utah Jazz tonight at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. It will mark the first time this season that the Pacers have played consecutive home games. The Pacers will also try to avoid losing two games in a row for the first time this season. One "first" is enough for one evening, don't you think?

The Jazz arrive struggling of late having lost three of their last four games. Their active front court with Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap will be a challenge for the Pacers. Plus, second-year power forward Derrick Favors remains inconsistent but has improved his game quite a bit since his rookie season providing some depth off the bench.

Roy Hibbert is due for a big game after struggling with foul trouble against Dwight Howard on Saturday. All of the Pacers struggled to a certain extent against the Magic but should be fresh and ready to go tonight.

Here is the Pacers.com preview. For an Orlando perspective, check out SLC Dunk. Also, after the game check out Pacers Overtime on WIBC 93.1FM with Eddie White. Need to have an Indy Cornrows mention on the show!

Leave your thoughts and observations on the game in the comments.

Foster is done Tom

Not being a Negative Nancy, but i cannot see him playing but just a few more games if that. The guy will play 2 games and be out for 8-10. Not a good sign for such a great vet for us. Gonna need another big that can step it up.

It sure is man

Never really cared for him but i hate to see any player go down like that. He’s had a nice career and I thought he was right guy for the Clippers. Hated hearing that early today.

I have an observation.

For an Orlando a Utah perspective, check out SLC Dunk. I understand why that happened—the Pacers played Orlando yesterday.

Should be an interesting game. My team failed to show up yesterday against an Amar’e and Melo-less team. Knowing Coach Corbin, they’ll be playing all the harder tonight, but it’s entirely possible that they’ll run out of gas at the end of the third quarter. I guess both teams could be somewhat out of gas, because both are on a second game of a b2b. Therefore, I’m predicting either a blowout by Indy in the fourth, or a scratching, clawing, knockdown drag-out grinder.

On a sidenote, do you guys think that Gordon Hayward will get close to the same reaction from the crowd tonight that he did last time he visited Indianapolis?

Hayward should get a huge applause

Always nice when one of our locals come home. Pacers have been off since SAT night when we ran out of gas against Orlando. We should be rested up for the Jazz but they are a surprising team too this yr. Should be a good game.

Jazz are a good team

We need to punch them in the throat right out of the gate. Or keep it close and unleash the dogs on them in the 3rd like we normally do. Paul and Danny should have a big night. 20+ ea would be nice, but if they only get 15 ea and we win then all is good.

What's impressing me most

Is I don’t feel they have just blown the doors off of Utah to get to this 19 point lead. They’re just going to work.

Worst three point shooting team in the league

is 4-8.

Yeah, I’d agree.

Second in FG defense, 14th in 3P defense.

No team handles prosperity worse than the Pacers

Whenever they get a big lead, they IMMEDIATELY fold and the other team comes back.

Utah has pretty much won the game at this point, because the Pacers…are turrible.
