A majority of Pacer fans feels that he was the weak spot in our starting line-up and that we need to make the move for a true, better point guard. I for one like the dude. The NBA has been spoiled with a lot of good point guards that every team that doesn't have one wants one. It kind of makes me sick everyone talking about Rondo, Rose, Rubio, Wall, D. Williams, Lin, etc etc.
If we had a .500 record, I could see the urge to upgrade the point guard position. But we're winning, 3rd best record in the East; obviously we have to be doing something right. People talk about how DC isn't a good facilitator and how he makes bad decisions sometimes, but I believe he can and will improve. Remember last year when everyone was wondering if Roy Hibbert can stay consistent? Hibbert was just in his 3rd season and look what happen this year, NBA All-Star. Collinson is in his 3rd season right now, his 2nd with the Pacers. Who knows what will happen in the future, maybe an All-Star spot. When the All-Star Reserve list came out, Charles Barkeley had DC's name down as someone who should have been on the list.
People think that we should trade him but that might actually harm the team's chemistry and lose production. The point guard is suppose to be the floor general, the "quarterback" of the team. If we were to put someone new in there like Steve Nash or Rondo, turnovers galore. It won't be that bad but just like a quarterback needs chemistry with his receivers, you need to have chemistry with your starting unit.
I actually have high hopes for this team. I feel that if we our core youngsters like Collison, George and Hibbert continue to grow, we can compete for multiple championships. Yeah, I said it.
To my fellow Pacer fans, just give DC a chance and don't be quick to throw him under the bus.
