The Indiana Pacers play nearly every Eastern Conference team three times this season. The exceptions are Philadelphia, Boston, Miami, and New Jersey. Note, these four teams (that the Pacers play four times) are not in Indiana’s division.
The remaining schedule has 19 home games and 13 away games. The pre-All Star break schedule had 14 home games and 19 away games. While the Pacers are set up nicely for a strong finish (thanks in large part to the heavy home schedule for the second half), the imbalance in the schedule still seems obvious. Why did the Pacers have so many more road games than home games for the first half? And why are they scheduled to play powerhouses like Miami, Philly, and (to a certain extent) Boston four times?
