IC Cold Links: Pacers Prepare For Miami Heat With Practice

ATLANTA, GA - FEBRUARY 12: LeBron James #6 of the Miami Heat dunks against the Atlanta Hawks at Philips Arena on February 12, 2012 in Atlanta, Georgia. The Indiana Pacers are kickin' it old school today with a real, live practice session as they try to cleanse their palate of three consecutive losses while preparing for LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat.

They should be plenty motivated to get to work after seeing the Heat dismantle the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday evening simply to avoid embarrassment. Not sure there is much any team in the league can do when the Heat have it going like they did last night.

The Pacers will catch a little scheduling break for Miami's visit to the Fieldhouse. While the game will be the first of three games in three nights for the Pacers, it will be the third in a row for the Heat. Not only that but Miami's back-to-back-to-back gauntlet will be run on the road with no home games among the trio.

Of course, the Hawks did neither Milwaukee (Miami's opponent tonight) nor the Pacers any favors since the early blowout allowed Miami's firepower to minimize the minutes needed to secure the W.

The Pacers really need to get a win vs. Miami. This is the first game of a back to back to back. Although the other two games are Cleveland and New Jersey, they still are scary just due to the schedule itself. I’m not a fan of the NBA schedule this year. Schedule wins are playing such a factor this year.

Clearly, we are facing adversity after 3 straight losses and any win will be great at this time but

if we win on Tuesday against the Heat, it will be……..

you guys complete the sentence.

Heat are clearly great. but we’re home, we’ll be on fresh legs, they’ll be on their 4th game in 5 days and 3rd in 3. Not saying if we lose it’s the end of the world, but if they get the doors blown off by them again I’m pretty worried.

…due to getting back to playing smashmouth D.

I think the Pacers showed they can’t speed up the game cause they couldn’t get back on D against Denver. The amount of layups/dunks the Pacers gave up was depressing.

And it's now my sig

Agreed

I think the one obvious thread through their four most recent losses is a lack of defense.

seeing this picture reminds me

Why does le Bron get away with doing pull ups on the rim and staring down opponents after he dunks on the them? Corey Brewer against us did less of a pull up after his dunk and he gets T’d up cause of it. I don’t care if he is a star, T him up!
That was my little rant of the day. Thanks for hearing me.

in fairness to LeBron

from the picture accompanying this article, it does look like he’s pullup himself up on the rim to avoid Josh Smith grabbing his butt
