Kenyon Martin, anyone?
Kmart is back and he is looking for a place to stay. Obviously, we need front court help. Question is, do we need the added baggage that goes with Martin ( I heard he can be a headcase). Other than the baggage, I am assuming he is in mid-season form. He can definitely help out in the 4 spot and even play some 5 against small teams. I am also assuming he will be cheaper than Kaman in which case, will give us more money to sign Wilson Chandler when he eventually returns.
Personally, I really am not sure about this but it seems we don't have much to lose by signing him anyway. We have roster spots and if things don't work out, we can trade him eventually.
What say you, guys?

A. I don’t think we’re in the Wilson Chandler conversation. Word is Denver will long-term him.
B. Simmons wrote (and I don’t know how true this is, given the source) that the Clips are the frontrunners for K-Mart, and it wouldn’t surprise me, given his playing style.
C. He’s old and I hate him as a player. He does nothing well. I guess he’s an exceptionally efficient shooter, but that’s because he scores on put-backs, and I don’t think he has the legs to keep that up. He hasn’t been relevant as an offensive player since Jason Kidd was throwing him lobs in New Jersey.
D. I doubt he signs here. He’s talking to “contenders.” I don’t think he sees us as one.
All that said, I’d take a 6’9 homeless guy at this point. I’m really starting to hope LB signs SOMEONE…

Yeah
But does Denver have the money to sign Wilson? 4yr 7.5-9mil per yr.?? Its good to see my cries for Chandler are rubbing off on others now. Im with you though, I like to see Bird sign someone to help contribute. Maybe JR Smith? Yeah a head case and his sister starts fights with everyone…..well at least Chinese fans. Maybe she just profiles, who knows and who cares. Smith would be a scoring version of Jones and younger of course. Danny, Roy & West should keep his ass in line for the next few years if we cant sign Wilson.

Bracey Wright, Marshall Strickland, DJ White and Josh Smith would have all played together in 2004

They don't have the money.
And any chatter they have going now I’m 99% sure would just be to scare people off. Nearly half their cap is tied up in Danillo and Nene. They also have Afflalo, Al Harrington, and the Birdman taking up most of the rest. And then they’ll have to resign Lawson pretty soon.
I don’t see them being able to justify matching near 8 figure (per year) offers. I’d love to have him, but only if he’d sign for close to $7mil. Closer to $10mil. and then we are going to have to get rid of someone or not retain one of our key young guys.
I’m hearing that Toronto is going to offer him “Big” money. I don’t know what that means, but I assume it’s well over the MLE. For a guy who’s a good glue guy, versitile, but not ideal for anything….I’m not willing to over spend.
Miami reportedly offered K-mart and Pzyblia (sp?) a contract. I can’t imagine they’ll sign both. I’d take a look at Joel if he’s healthy. A good, long look I would.

Yeah, I read Toronto too
That’s a team that could definitely justify spending huge dollars on Chandler. I like him, but frankly don’t get the fascination. He’d be wasted on this team. He’s a wing-only. Can’t guard bigs. Doesn’t rebound any better than Granger. Doesn’t shoot from long range particularly well. If I were building my team around him and a couple superstars at other positions, I guess I’d pay him $7-10 mil, but if not, how’s he even going to get relevant minutes in this rotation?
Also Joel P is a great option if Bird would try to get him here. Blocks/Boards/Fouls in 15+ mpg is about what he’s perfect for.

Pryzbilla=foster as far as injuries go. Can’t rely on him and at this point there’s no reason to pay another liability.

If he's talking to the Heat it's league min.
I was hoping the Heat would get K-mart and Joel would consider going somewhere else. But, if he’s coming back and settling for league min. and what’s to ride coat tails, then I wouldn’t offer him much more than the league min. In which case it’s not a liability, it’s an asset.

Besides the baggage
currently Kaman fills the bigger need.
Plus with him being a FA at yrs end, we’ll have the luxury of being able to try him out/ before we buy.
Despite LOU’s resurgence and The Other Jeff’s potential, acquiring Kaman is the move to make.
