The Indiana Pacers look for their third win in a row when they visit the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center.
The teams split their two games last year but the Pacers played arguably their worst game of the year after Frank Vogel took over at Minnesota in the midst of a six-game losing streak. The Wolves have weapons that can cause the Pacers problems and with rookie Ricky Rubio added to the mix this year the Pacers defense will be put to the test.
The Pacers will be without George Hill, so hopefully Rubio doesn't lure Lance Stephenson into a no-look passing game of anything you can do I can do better. Although, as long as the Pacers win that could be pretty entertaining. Jeff Foster was ruled out last night and is listed as day-to-day in Minnesota so I'll take that as some good news.
Here is the Pacers.com preview. For a Minnesota perspective, check out Canis Hoopus. Also, after the game check out Pacers Overtime on WIBC 93.1FM with Eddie White. Need to have an Indy Cornrows mention on the show!

Good luck Pacer fans!
I think this is going to be a close one. Good viewing for everyone!

Agreed.
I think this one come down to the wire. Excited to see this Wolves team play for the first time. Heard promising things. Thanks for the good luck. GL to you as well!
Likewise my friend!
We’ve been saying “One win away from .500” for a little while now. I must be honest, after the win in Houston on Monday, I wasn’t exactly thrilled to see Indiana on our schedule. You guys have got to love your squad and coach this year.

Here come the Wolves, with Kevin freakin' Love.
Excuse me if I’m nervous about this guy, since he’s a freak of nature and the only player in the league averaging in the top 5 in both points and rebounds.
Before the game, be sure to check out one of his best moments as a T-Wolf.
Here we go!
5:00 start, off work, wine poured, college basketball, TV & computer muted (away game), Craig Finn on ipod. LET’S DO THE DAMN THANG!
Minnesota's broadcast team
is pretty solid. (Hanneman can be kind of irritating, but Peterson is solid, and doesn’t do much homerizing).

Question!
Who is going to guard Michael Beasley tonight for the Pacers?
Is he, by any chance, unathletic and weight less than 220lbs?

Anyone remember the feed from last year?
I think we got the jumbotron feed from Minny on League Pass. That was bizarre
Im here, just skyriming it also
I'm reading a book about anti-gravity. It's impossible to put down.// I wondered why the baseball was getting bigger, Then it hit me// A hole has been found in the nudist camp wall. The police are looking into it.
Another +1, sir.
Twice now he’s complained with a ticked off look that the refs got calls wrong. He even looked at a ref and said, “That’s twice now,” referring to the number of times he feels he was wronged.
Why'd they take a timeout at the 7 minute mark?
The Pacers offense and defense was clicking. What’s Vogel doing?
in case anyone is interested,
chi behind by 13 in philly halfway thru the 3rd
Nice timing. lol
Also, shocker here, Orlando and Washington are in a close game. Poor Magic have fallen apart.
Interested in that game
not sure what it tells us if Bulls win, but speaks loudly if Sixers pull through
If Philly wins, I will fear them.
Not so much yet, because they haven’t beaten many teams of note.
Hopefully the Sixers don't celebrate too loudly in the locker room, if they win
b’c Rose will remember it and won’t be able to wait to play them again
Weird start
7 point swings, hot shooting, cold shooting, crisp play, sloppy play…just weird. Good thing is the phenomenon has afflicted both teams.
My son just got his cast off from a chip fracture.

We're shooting .393. Minny's at .321.
At least they aren’t shooting 50%. This would look a lot different.

Bulls getting spanked by 20 at Philly
Derek may jump off a bridge after this one. Hope the Sixers don’t celebrate too much.
I'm not feeling this game tonight in terms of confidence
but, I hope Indiana pulls this out. (Don’t want to jinx anything, though)
I called 100 pts with 10 min left in the game and it took them 6 minutes to get there.
I think they are looking pretty good so far considering this is a road game and the Timberwolves are a pretty tough match up.

IMO
Pacers are so much better when they go inside and then out with the scoring.
Chicago is IN Philly in the current blowout.
So Rose may not cry after Philly celebrates.
Kahn's put a good team together
I guess no one is laughing at him anymore.
Man, the Wolves house is packed.
Is that a regular occurrence? Where do they rank in terms of attendance?
what else is there to do on a winter Wednesday night in Minnesota?

Rubio
Has anyone made any comparisons with Rubio and Steve Nash? They seem to play a similar style of game. Rubio is quick.
Disagree
He is always just slow getting going offensively. He usually plays consistent defense.

Fortunately, with Paul George’s improvement, we don’t need Granger to carry the team, so I don’t understand the constant complaining about Granger by some.

ABA throwbacks
Does the Pacers only have the blue overall with gold stripe throwbacks? Weren’t they wearing those against the Nets at home? Would be cool if they were playing with a red, white & blue ball too!
I don't want them to switch basketballs
because it might mess with their handling and shooting – but maybe I am a little anal that way.
Do they scream MISS IT! when they fly by?
That’s what I used to do when I played defense.
It doesn’t work usually.
That was basically my whole defensive arsenal. Actually, I usually didn’t bother to do the fly by … I would just scream “miss it”. Not very effective at all.
by rrs on Feb 1, 2012 9:09 PM EST up reply actions
Now that I'm too fat to play basketball...
I just ram into people with my Hoveround.
It’s SUPER effective.
David West slowed Kevin down a looot.
Love had like, 9 boards in the first quarter, right? He has 10 now at the half. And he’s shooting 2-8, so yeah – we’ll take that.
Yea, I don’t think people realize what West adds defensively to the Pacers. His experience really helps.
by rrs on Feb 1, 2012 9:13 PM EST up reply actions
I hope
we take care of business. We should have a much bigger lead. Our second unit execution was not…executing.
They look legit
Did someone ask Rose if they did the proper amount of celebrating? If not, remind the media to condemn them all day tomorrow.
Apparently,
Rose said, “I never will forget how the Philly visiting locker room smelled after the game. I can’t wait to douse myself with Lysol.”
Too fast. Too strong.
Too many people being mean to him make them stop he’s a very sensitive guy you know.
This Chicago loss REALLY calls their legitimacy into question.
They’ve lost to several playoff-bound teams this season. They’ve played a ton of garbage teams, though, which is why they have so many wins. They’re 2-3 in their last 5, dropping to us, Miami, and now Philly.
I think people need to take a long, hard look at that team’s"OMG BEST IN THE LEAGUE" excellence.
havent they been missing a bunch of guys?
In this shortened season I wouldn’t read into a few loss too much… still gotta say they are no.2 in the east for now, plus they were very close to winning @MIA
2min for Lance and 3 TOs. Man, he played so great yesterday. Probably went to his head.

by Bronn on May 17, 2011 4:56 PM EDT
Yeah, his 3 TOs were on consecutive possessions, I believe.
One of them wasn’t completely his fault, the Hibbert pass, but it still counts on the stat sheet.
He’s young, plus his style of play probably makes him more prone to turnovers.

Only superstars are allowed to complain about calls
And Danny certainly isn’t that.
And it's an interesting dichotomy
For instance, last night Deron Wiliams gets a tech for complaining about calls, then gets the next 3 questionable calls to go his way.
That does not work for a certain someone named Granger who will not be named.
Danny gripes to refs all game

Right. I guess my point was more...
… of when Danny missed more shots than he’s made. I don’t recall him shooting poorly.

Hey, quick question.
I’m heading down to the Indy / Orlando game on Saturday. Anyone in the area know of any available parking?
Yeah, I was looking at taking a bus from Castleton to downtown.
The problem is that the bus back from Indy to Castleton heads back at 9 PM, which is well before the game will end.
you're probably better off parking farther away and taking a bus
i heard there’s free bus rides on certain routes

It’s hard to really get a peg of how they’ll play. No doubt they’re a dangerous team. It’s a game that really worries me.

…but the Pacific could be by seasons end. GS and Sacto have the talent to be near .500 teams. Nash and the vets in PHX should keep them near that range as well and the two LA teams are pretty good.

…actually doing more good than harm as of late. Tonight wasn’t their best performance of the past 3 games, but both are helping us win…instead of the other team.

Even when they are not playing the best it seems like they still provide some kind of lift just through hustle. I think they are very disruptive to play against and give other players fits. Kind of guys you would hate when they are playing against your team, but appreciate on your side. Hmm, kind of like Jeff Foster.
Yeah...but Jeff....
kicks offensive boards back out most of the time unless it’s an easy put back. Lou and Tyler have a very bad tendency to pull them down and then try to go back up with their garbage non-existent inside game.

Just a note on seeding
We still have the fifth seed but we’ve played 14 road games (9-5) while Philly (2nd seed) has only played 8 and is 4-4 in those skirmishes. Looking good Louis. Feeling good Billy Ray!
At this point....
I think I’d rather face Orlando or Atlanta than Philly….or Chicago or Miami of course.

And I'd love it even more if we could somehow beat out CHI or MIA for the 2 seed.
Be great to get a 1st round tune up in on Boston or Cleveland…or….the Knicks (hopefully they still won’t have a point gaurd by that time).

Always been a matchup issue with Atlanta
Which is why I would like to avoid seeing them. The one game this year has been great, but I need to see a lot more to ease my mind. I think a Philly/Indiana series would be phenomenal, but I would rather see both teams in the second round challenging Chicago/Miami.
Yeah, with a different roster...
Those matchup problems went away with the addition of West and Hill.
I don't fear them too much...not as much as Philly.
I think our depth can beat the Hawks in a 7 game series….unless Teague keeps getting alot better like he has been (or of course we regress back to the early season poor shooting). And I’m saying this with full assumption that Horford will be 100% by then. If he’s not, I fear them none.

question
What other player that was a rookie last year is performing well besides PG and blake Griffen? As far as i can think non of the others are doing so great.
John Wall is still doing pretty well....
…and there’s plenty of guys chipping in. But none like PG and the others we mentioned here. In fact. Lance is probably near the top 20 or so in minutes played for the 2010 class. For what it’s worth there were alot of underclassman that came out earlier than they should’ve that year b/c of the impending lockout the following summer.

His numbers right now are 16.1 ppg, 7.1 apg, 5.2 rpg, 1.24 spg and a block.
If PG had those number we’d be losing our collective minds. The Wizards are atrocious but Wall is a legitimately good young point guard.

Don't know if this was mentioned, but...
… Atlanta overtook Miami in the Southeast.
Hooray for our team
