In a league devoid of classic centers, I'm about ready to give up hope on Big Roy if someone will consume his meaty contract. So here's the deal I'd throw out there:
Trade Roy Hibbert for Pau Gasol.
Why the Pacers do it:
Frankly, it saves them money in the long run, and as the ceiling of this team isn't NBA-Championship caliber, even at full-strength with Danny Granger. We may love Roy's heart and character, but that's not enough for me. I would certainly argue that we would be a better team with Pau instead of Roy. A front-line of Pau Gasol and David West would arguably be the most-skilled in the NBA. I'd love to see it in action.
Why the Lakers do it:
I don't think we'd ever see Roy on the court at the same time as Dwight, but pairing the two together in practice could only make them better, and certainly would result in the Lakers having the strongest center tandem in the NBA. They wouldn't lose much without Dwight in the game, and as long as they could find an option at PF to pair with Dwight, the Lakers would be absolutely set with Roy as a back-up Center.
Thoughts? Raw deal for the Lakers..or Pacers, or fair all-around?
