There is no way to replace or even replicate the type of production, leadership, efficiency, consistency etc that Granger brings to the floor. The team is actually still not bad on defense but with granger out our offense has taken a major hit. Now the turnovers need cleaned up but despite that the glaring need that the pacers do not have right now is the ability to knock down shots from the perimeter to keep the defense honest. Granger was great at that.
Out of all of the perimeter players our team has there is only one that has been consistent thus far through the season at knocking down 3s at a consistent rate and that is Hill. But him being the point guard it should not be his job especially since he does not play on the perimeter wings that is the SG and SF job. PG has been inconsistent in this area all year but i will give him props on his excellent improvement on the glass this year but he needs to watch his turnovers. Green needs to stay with the second unit. Lance Stephenson is a decent shooter but still needs work in that area, but i love his improvement this year. Don't get me started on Sam Young. The guy plays good defense and does good things around the basket but he can not hit the broad side of the barn.
While watching the Atlanta game i noticed that their offense excelled to a different level once Korver started knocking down his 3s. When he was cold through the first 3 quarters we had them but then you all know what happened.
I saw something though that could help the pacers and he is better than korver and he is on Atlanta's bench not getting any PT for some reason. This guys name is Anthony Morrow and is one the most consistent 3 point shooters over the past 4 years. I really think if we found a way to trade atlanta for him especially since he is in the last year of his contract he would help us by spacing the floor and making the defense account for the perimeter more which opens up opportunities in the post for Hibbert and West and when they are double teamed they kick out to him for shots. That is where were bad so far this year, and what i see we miss a lot from the absence of Danny. Because when Hibbs or West passed out of the post to Danny he knocked down those shots, these guys so far this year aren't doing very good with that.
I'm not saying Morrow is the answer to our problems but we need a guy who all he does is make 3s cause we need to knock those shots down to make our offense flow more smoothly. Hell it doesn't even have to be Morrow he is just an example of someone who is a possibility.
I heard that we are also taking a look at Mickael Pietrus. I wouldn't mind this, because he is basically Sam Young with 3 point rang so taking a look at him does not hurt in the least but we need someone who can space the floor. Michael Redd is available still, he was good in Phoenix last year. McGrady too if he wouldn't have went to China.
I wouldn't even be opposed to seeing Ben Hansbrough getting some PT since he knocks down the deep ball better than anyone on the team besides maybe Hill.
What do you guys think?
What should we do?
