The Indiana Pacers needed an extra couple of periods to close out a win against the Sacramento Kings, but were able to do so behind some key defensive stops and key buckets. The Pacers overcame their perpetual turnover issues (season high of 24) to move to 2-1 on the season. The game began on a bright note for the Pacers with the best start they had all season, but a cold stretch at the end of the first quarter breathed life into the Kings.

The Pacers would use an 18-4 run to close the half, putting them in what seemed to be control of the game, but turnovers were a huge problem yet again in the third quarter as the Kings stayed close. A Paul George three at the buzzer extended the third quarter lead to 8, a three the Pacers needed every point of to even have a shot at winning in the overtime periods.

Six players scored in double figures for the Pacers with three of them posting double doubles. Paul George hit the dagger, finishing with 16 points and 17 rebounds, the latter a career high. David West had 18 & 18, with Roy Hibbert posting 12 & 10 with six blocks. The Pacers won the rebounding battle 67-47 even though the Kings outscored Indiana 27-13 on points off turnovers.
