Pat Lovell-US PRESSWIRE
The Indiana Pacers struggled down the stretch as the San Antonio Spurs closed them out.
It was another heartbreaker for the Indiana Pacers, who despite a 17-point third quarter lead, and a double digit lead in the fourth, let the San Antonio Spurs show them first hand what a good team does: close games. The Pacers were fueled by their bench in the second quarter, giving Indiana a lead heading into the half. The good times continued with the second unit, who pushed the tempo and opened up their 17-point lead. Smart play, good movement, and timely buckets forced the Spurs hand, but when it came to winning time, the Spurs did what they had to do.
The Pacers didn't have a field goal in the final five and a half minutes, as shots refused to go in for the Pacers. The Spurs, trailing by four, went on a 12-0 run, and that was the end of it. David West led the Pacers with 22, Paul George followed with 15, and Roy Hibbert had a 10 point, 11 rebound double double. D.J. Augustin had eight points and eight assists.
