IC Cold Links: Pacers Hold Home Court With Tough Schedule Looming
The Indiana Pacers are 3-0 at home after dismantling the Charlotte Bobcats in the second half of last night's 99-77 win. They also survived their first real tough chunk of the schedule at Miami, at Boston and then Charlotte on back-to-back with a 2-1 record (the "1" only seemed like 3).
Now the Pacers have to prepare for another rough chunk of the schedule that hits this week before they make their West Coast trip the following week. Playing at Philadelphia on Monday and at home against Atlanta on Wednesday may be their biggest test outside of Miami so far.
Both the Sixers and Hawks are playing real well so far and boast long athletic teams that can cause the Pacers problems. The Hawks have been a nightmare matchup for a couple of years but when you consider Philly has been bringing Evan Turner, Lou Williams and Thaddeus Young off the bench with great success you can see how they can pose problems and nullify the Pacers depth advantage over most other teams.
Should be an interesting week. After playing at Philly on Monday and at home against Atlanta, the Pacers finish up with back-to-back games at Toronto on Friday and then home for Boston on Saturday.

So remember how it took a minute to name Frank head coach?
And were all like WTF Larry?
We apparently wanted Jerry Sloan pretty badly.
"He's like Darth Vader." - Frank Vogel on Larry Bird
That's understandable.
I wouldn’t blame Larry for looking at a successful and traveled coach like Sloan. Rather I would have been disappointed if he didn’t at least try.
I will say that Vogel seems to be alright, the last two games there has been a clear adjustment at half time. Of course, it could be the assistants or just the players themselves.

I think Sloan might have been pretty freaking awsome...
…with this group. He might have been a bit frustrated not having a marque PG, since he’s had one for a long time, but perhaps he’d appreciate Collisons work ethic and he’d be a better student than D.Will was….perhaps.
Anyway, I was starting to get real concerned with Vogel after 4 or 5 games of terrible ball movement. Still a bit annoyed by the last possesion isos that occured in the Boston game…hope he wasn’t behind that.
But, clearly we are doing better than under JOB…he’d probably have Hans burried on the bench and have Jones, Amundson, and Foster playing big minutes shooting tons of 3s.

Lance vs Price....
Seems like Lance is someone’s pet project. I think it’s unfair to Price (based on his steadying role off the bench in the last 2 games) to demote him and give time to Lance who may have potential, but right now that’s all he is. Maybe he is outshining Price in practice who knows.
I firmly believe playing time should be earned.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it comes dressed in overalls and looks like work.

I would have to agree
Although I dont think someone should lose their spot due to injury but clearly Vogel knows how Bird feels about Lance and that has to factor into the deciding rotation
