The Indiana Pacers take on the New Jersey Nets tonight at Bankers Life Fieldhouse as they try to build a little momentum by winning consecutive games for the first time since beating Golden State and the Los Angeles Lakers to end the West Coast road trip.
The Nets have won their last two games on the road, including and impressive effort to win at Philadelphia, but they struggled in their last outing, losing at home to the Toronto Raptors 94-73, a game in which they lost some fire power in rookie MarShon Brooks and DeShawn Stevenson. Both are expected to miss the game tonight leaving Jordan Farmar and Sundiata Gaines to step up in their absence. D-League call up Larry Owens may get the start at small forward since the Nets prefer bringing Shawne Williams off the bench.
The Pacers should have an advantage in the front court with Brook Lopez missing in the middle for the Nets. That is, assuming Roy Hibbert doesn't have any lingering issues from getting his nose straightened out yesterday. The Pacers were hoping to have Jeff Foster back tonight but his back still has him listed as out for the game. The Pacers will be paying homage to their ABA past by wearing throwback uniforms for the game tonight.
Here is the Pacers.com preview. For a New Jersey perspective, check out Nets Daily. Also, after the game check out Pacers Overtime on WIBC 93.1FM with Eddie White. Need to have an Indy Cornrows mention on the show!

hope the Nets wear their Dr. J era uni's
those things’re gorgeous, top 5 uniforms ever
"He's like Darth Vader." - Frank Vogel on Larry Bird
So which uni’s are being worn tonight? The old school hand on the basketball logo?
Peyton Manning = GFQTWHESINTHOEF
these

We’ve worn em before. They looked real baggy and just cheap before, hopefully they’re the same fitted type jerseys the league went to this (last?) year.
"He's like Darth Vader." - Frank Vogel on Larry Bird
The ABA jerseys have looked good this year
Not counting though those Memphis Tams jerseys, haha. Hopefully the trend continues.
I really want one of these gray warm up jackets though. Holy cow that looks nice.
Indeed
look like a cardigan, obviously not wool or something, wonder what material those are. I’d rock one.
"He's like Darth Vader." - Frank Vogel on Larry Bird
May catch a big break without Marshon Brooks tonight
This isn’t some gutsy veteran team that can pull a win out of their ass, a loss tonight would feel downright awful.
Yup
But 4 to’s on 6 possessions with 1 shot-albeit a make- is not a good start.
looks like dwill is sending a message to indy.
a trade message.
Are we still shooting 100%? We should do that for the whole game.

Yeah
the guy was practically asked for him to shoot it too. Bet Danny makes that next time. I hope lol
Wow
Brandon Jacobs played AAU with Danny. Hmm who would have thought
Looks like it's going to be a shootout.
Hope our offense shows up.
I saw 1 episode of one of the Kardasian shows a couple of weeks ago
Humphries wasn’t the only ones that were absolute ass-hats. Just wanted to put it out there.
I don’t know if it was editing, but he came off as a douche. My wife watches, so I have to hear it in the background.

To be fair, editing or not, everyone, and I mean EVERYONE came off like dumb asses
First and last time I’ll lay eyes on that show. I didn’t even know what Kim Kardasian sounded like until I saw that episode
This
It looks so good sometimes, but that’s usually when it’s 3 on 1, or 2 on 0. sigh

So am I the only fan of Amundson in here?
He seems fairly disliked by a lot of ppl I talk to.
Peyton Manning = GFQTWHESINTHOEF
I saw the opening night pistons game at the fieldhouse
I liked the effort he gave, plus the dude’s had some pretty righteous dunks so far this year.

I think the combination of missing Foster and Lou beginning his Pacer career by missing 80% of his dunks and layups didn't bode well for him.
He’s looked pretty good the past few games though.

late to the party and was just reading the d-will rumors
btw, what happened to LOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUU? He’s starting to look like a viable NBA player
Is the Sean/Shawn Williams on the Nets the former Pacer Williams
or is the former Pacer Williams the one that threw up in Dallas?
Yeah I like Quinn too.
I’ve got the New Jersey broadcast, and Mike Fratello was talking about the ice cream that’s under the Pacers basket, and how it’s distracting the Nets players when they’re shooting their free throws.

I'll take the three point play
but that new continuation rule seems to have gone out the window as the season has gone on.
That's so frustrating.
Just because DWill got a T doesn’t mean they had messed up the call he was arguing about—yet that was clearly a makeup call. And he just got another.
How does our hottest shooter in PG stay on teh bench so long.
And it's now my sig
by Bronn on May 17, 2011 4:56 PM EDT
Yeah I agree. 5-6 from the field, 3-3 for three, two steals and he only played 12 minutes.
That’s compared to Hill’s 14. Nothing against Hill.
by dustinpurvis on Jan 31, 2012 8:13 PM EST up reply actions
I don't think so. He only played about four minutes in the second quarter and only had two fouls. Same number as DC and Roy.
by dustinpurvis on Jan 31, 2012 8:15 PM EST up reply actions
Possible.
Now that you mention it, both DWill and Farmar were getting to the rim pretty easily.

Hah, it's strange. The Pistons, to me, just aren't the same team we played in the playoffs/brawl etc.
But my hatred for the Knicks has never died down, even though I was in elementary school during their rivalry in the 90’s.
by dustinpurvis on Jan 31, 2012 8:25 PM EST up reply actions
I did not like the end to the second quarter
I would have loved for Roy to have hit that three legitimately. He does seem to do the Hibberty Hop alot (i.e. travel)
Interested in seeing Hill play with the starters here.
Also means that PG won’t get pulled out so early.
Three second violation but...
West had stepped out of the paint…two seconds prior to the whistle. I do not like late whistles.
Late whistles
always make me think that the ref was iffy on the call and/or was awaiting the outcome of the play before taking action…that is not the way to properly officiate…so says me.
6-9 14 pts.
Four turnovers but all in all pretty good. Looks like he can anytime he wants if they can get it into him clean.

I may like these more
I also love the current set (minus the yellow alt). I kind of wish they’d go back to this blue.

I don't know
Aren’t they getting free Hardee’s? Is that good or bad? I haven’t eaten there in ages and ages.

Yeah really. With DC in foul trouble, Lance has to come through.
PG’s going to get a ton of PT too.

Lou
Is a beast tonight….This is the guy I remember. Scrappy bastard.
I'm not sure that turnover should be on Lou's back. There were players there.
It just slowly rolled out of bounds.
Danny with the heads up play again
he’s really taken on the role of a leader this year

if hill goes out for a couple of games
we could see a lot of lance. This could be his chance.
by latrell spreewel on Jan 31, 2012 9:02 PM EST reply actions
Unless I'm forgetting something--is that the coolest dunk in Pacer history?
I’m serious, I mean, did Fred Jones or Bender ever have a better dunk than that?
Im gonna be really disappointed if
PG isnt in the dunck contest AND he doesn’t get his career high tonight..what is it right now 23?
I need to get me a PG throw back jersey
by gut19 on Jan 31, 2012 9:03 PM EST via mobile reply actions
I figured it'd all come out in the wash
But the Pacers let it be a game for far too long. Hopefully they can close this one out with authority.

by latrell spreewel on Jan 31, 2012 9:06 PM EST reply actions
just noticed all those empty seats.
wish i could be there
Lance is gonna have 10 assists by the time this one is over
If he keeps setting up his guys like that.
is it officially over????
danny’s shooting woes?
I think so. He’s been shooting around 45% over the past few games.

By all accounts
he’s been acting much more like a pro, I like how he is always up off the bench cheering, even when he isn’t getting minutes.
Yeah rough night for him.
I think he’s the team leader in minutes per game for the season though.

Deron and Shawne.
Sheldon and Justin, however, do not.

Only having the play by play is damn confusing.
“Williams to Williams, lays it off to Williams who oops to.. Williams?”
Gah
hah I can imagine.
I meant to write Jordan rather than Justin, by the way.

man
the Nets are BRUTAL. I almost feel bad for Deron.
"He's like Darth Vader." - Frank Vogel on Larry Bird
Well
Hansbrough’s fall was a result of sweat that happened during the same play so there was no break in the action allowing for a clean-up. Bad break for us.
I don't know if anyone is watching New Jersey's telecast, but they're showing PG's shot chart.
And the ‘made shot’ dot for his dunk is barely inside of the free throw line.
when is the last time we scored
I'm reading a book about anti-gravity. It's impossible to put down.// I wondered why the baseball was getting bigger, Then it hit me// A hole has been found in the nudist camp wall. The police are looking into it.
I blame
Chris Denari. Talked about us hitting 100 for whatever time, and we’ve been stuck at 98 ever since.
because Lance obviously is inexperience
as much as I love Lance, he’s still too green

this is a a different granger
so much more veteran savvy than ever before
by latrell spreewel on Jan 31, 2012 9:33 PM EST up reply actions
I love the fact
that Hibbert can hit free throws unlike other centers in the league…(written before the second free throw)
I was there when he scored 23 last season. Snuck down behind Wizards bench to watch it.
Reshard Lewis gave me roll of life savers.
Oh Granger, why must you be so classy?
I wanted that to go off of the glass for a PG throwdown, 2k style.
The good thing is
Our team is now good enough to weather a storm of cold shooting and big runs and bounce back with a counter punch that we just haven’t had over the past few years. This team has a spine…that swag, if you will, that comes with a team that fully expect to win games.

Nets aren't as bad as some people say they are
especially if they get healthy. If they get Lopez and Brooks back, they are a pretty good team.

Too many
30ish? Give credit to the Nets for taking advantage of the size mismatch against DC and credit to Morrow for getting hot.

I've done my share of voting last couple of weeks Pacers will never win any popularity contets anytime soon
hope Big Roy does not get in until next year so we can sign him cheap. All star appearances aren’t cheap when contract negotiations come around.
by latrell spreewel on Jan 31, 2012 9:44 PM EST up reply actions
If he scored one more point he would have been the tenth double-digit scorer the Pacers have had in a game this season.
That blows my mind. Pendergraph, Foster and A.J. would be the only three left after that.
by dustinpurvis on Jan 31, 2012 9:45 PM EST up reply actions
I don't know. If we ever need him to play extended time due to injuries or something.
He scored four quick points in garbage time in Orlando. I bet he could do it. He had some good games in Portland.

Where was David West tonight?
He didn’t visibly struggle the way DC did, but he didn’t have much of an impact on the game at all.
WOW
PGs dunk up in the NBA.com box, make sure to watch sportscenter tonight! I have an inkling on the no.1…
LOL
DC should be rested for tomorrow

Hill has a "small chip fracture" in his ankle
so says Frank in the post game. Shit.
"He's like Darth Vader." - Frank Vogel on Larry Bird
That sucks. Anyone know what the standard amount of time missed on an injury like that is?
Time for Lance to fill his shoes.
by dustinpurvis on Jan 31, 2012 10:01 PM EST up reply actions
It truly is a variable injury
and we won’t really know for sure, but how his ankle responds will become more clear over the next 24-48 hours. The size of the chip is obviously a factor as well. It could be anywhere to playable in 24 hours to out several weeks.
