Game Thread: Indiana Pacers Vs. Boston Celtics

Indiana Pacers at Boston Celtics, Jan 27, 2012 7:30 PM EST

January 27, 2012 - 7:30PM EST
TD Garden
Radio: WIBC 93.1FM TV: Fox Sports Indiana
Probable starters:
Darren Collison PG Avery Bradley
Paul George SG Mickael Pietrus
Danny Granger SF Paul Pierce
David West PF Brandon Bass
Roy Hibbert C Kevin Garnett

The Indiana Pacers play the Boston Celtics for the third time in three weeks looking to remain unbeaten on the parquet while the C's are hoping the third time is the charm after losing the first two meetings.

The Celtics have been on a bit of a roll lately, winning their last three games and four of five while dealing with some injuries. Last night the C's beat Orlando without Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen and Jermaine O'Neal so they may not have the familiar look again tonight, but beating any team three times in a row is a chore no matter who is playing.

Here is the Pacers.com preview. For a Boston perspective, check out CelticsBlog. Also, after the game check out Pacers Overtime on WIBC 93.1FM with Eddie White. Need to have an Indy Cornrows mention on the show!

If the Pacers can win these next two games

I believe they’re good enough to locked up a top four spot in the east later this year. On a side note, wish we could of signed GH last week (and Hibbert). Worried that we might of gave up a first found pick for a guy who we only had on our team for a year.

LET THE HATERS HATE.

Can’t be like the Magic. Need to take advantage of 2 very good players being out for the Celts….and JO.

Thank God for the NBA lockout.

Roy has become the player we wanted him to be for the past few years, and you’d have to think his extra work in the extended off-season is a big factor in that. He’s displaying SO much confidence in the post, which is aaawesome.

Even if his 20 footer isn’t falling…it’s the only way he can make shots. Shoot the 20 footer or put the ball down for one dribble and attack. Back to the basket = BRICK.

And WTF is up with taking PG out first?

He’s the youngest starter with arguably the most energy. They should switch West first so that you can bring him back with the second unit at the start of the second. He provides more offense than Tyler.

Is it too late to reconsider the McRoberts trade?

At least if he were here and Tyler were gone, we’d have a PF that wasn’t afraid of throwing elbows at people’s throats. We could use that from time to time.

He looks like every white player

To play at Wisconsin. You can ask random people on the street in Arizona and they’d be able to tell you what college he played at.

Hey

Final shot of the quarter, why not LOUUU?

Man....

…for a half second I actually thought that Lou shot was going to fall for a second there.

Silly me.

Yeah.

I had no idea we’d gone to the line that much. No wonder it feels like we are losing by more.

OH DAMMIT

Another game we’re losing when we’re perfect from the FT line.

by Jmahoney on Jan 27, 2012 9:24 PM EST reply actions

Games like this

are why Banker’s Life is not filled. No way Pacers should be losing to these geezers after they played last night. Unreal.

by hjsportsed on Jan 27, 2012 9:29 PM EST reply actions

no they arent

look at their starting five, it’s probably the worst in the nba if that was their regular lineup, we just didnt make any shots, and lou amundson played entirely too many minutes.

Danny and David are both shooting well.

Roy is killing us. He’s 3-10 with 6 turnovers. We really need to get the ball back in David and Danny’s hands.

by Jmahoney on Jan 27, 2012 9:31 PM EST reply actions

May take three minutes

And eighteen offensive rebounds, but we’ll get our two points, dammit.

by Nathan S. on Jan 27, 2012 9:33 PM EST reply actions

I'd honestly settle for a moral victory at this point.

Cut it to two possesion game by the final minute.

Looking good now.

PG....I'll say it again.

Worst game this season. Completely got bailed out there. He’s learning some bad habbits from Danny.

wonder why frank bothers putting the starters back in with 7 minutes left at all. He clearly decided he didnt care about winning the game by letting it get out of hand with them on the bench, no game last night, and no game tomorrow

Boston's announcers are beyond delusional.

Even if they were rooting for the Pacers, I wouldn’t be able to stand them. Something Rush Limbaugh-ish about them.

wow this unit on the floor right now is pretty good. never heard of these guys but maybe they should be playing more than the last 7 minutes when we’re down 10+

Bench Shooting

Pacer 3 for 20
Celtice 11 for 19

by DAVIDIN NC on Jan 27, 2012 9:45 PM EST reply actions

Ugh, and one of our strengths going into the season was supposed to be our depth.

But that seems to indicate that our bench isn’t playing much defense either.

This is the worst loss of the year BUT

we arent going to shoot 1-19 from 3 again all year so its nothing to worry about. we owe the magic a beating lets give it to them

They've destroyed the Magic twice

With this lineup. They even spotted them a 27-point lead last night.

by Nathan S. on Jan 27, 2012 9:55 PM EST up reply actions

thats ORLs problem

bradley and pietrus never have or will be anything and brandon bass is “nice” bench player. its the same team that got down the 27 points to the magic in the first place, dont forget that.

Someone

in that 2nd unit needs to step up. We needed a Duns to get the offense moving tonight. Instead we had a D Jones. Not the same.

by jantz101 on Jan 27, 2012 9:54 PM EST up reply actions

Knock down a 3, make it a 4 point game.

Get a stop, get a basket, cut it to a single possession game. Foul, they miss 1, we hit a three and tie it. TOTALLY COULD HAPPEN!

by Jmahoney on Jan 27, 2012 9:55 PM EST up reply actions

No no, if you read through that...

… we have to make TWO threes. You like my plan?

by Jmahoney on Jan 27, 2012 9:56 PM EST up reply actions

Sorry

I deemed it impossible at making one three. Threw me off and I couldn’t get back on track.

by Nathan S. on Jan 27, 2012 9:57 PM EST up reply actions

…and hit a 3, they should count it as 7 the way we shot tonight.

We need a healthy Foster and a top 3 seed to feel comfy about making it out of the first round. Don’t want another shark in the tank getting w/ in reach of that illusive 3rd seed.

Orlando still getting their teeth kicked in by New Orleans.

I had the #2 pick

K. Love, Ricky Rubio, Josh Smith, Hibbert, Calderon, Ty Lawson, Gortat, Jarrett Jack (love this guy)

I have Dirk too but he’s been only OK.

I picked up Lou Williams and he’s been solid.

Pretty solid.

I stopped playing snake format. Only play Auction. The draft is why you play fantasy sports (plus the pot if there’s money involved).

Just from a pure “on the road, veteran team, already beat their brains out twice, once in their building” sense.

made so many mistakes in the first half

the critical junction was the third quarter when Danny got hot and got the game tie, then all hell broke loose and they just lost focus right after ward
