What if we don't resign Hill
As we all know, we didn't get the deal done by the deadline. We weren't far off from each other, but this worries me. The only reason San Antonio traded Indiana George was because they knew they couldn't resign him. I have a feeling the Raiders of the NBA (not sure who that is) are going to give him stupid money an he'll walk. If he does sign somewhere else, it would be a complete waste of ourpick last year (unless we win it all this year.) unless we sign Eric Gordon, I'm not sure why we didn't get this deal done. With all that being said Hibbert is priority number 1. Look how much Deandre Jordan got this past offseason. Hibbert is way better than he is and will get more offers. Golden State still needs a center. I wouldn't be surprised if they throw a max'ish deal at him.
Just wanted to see what you guys thought about this. I'm bored shitless working the home show downtown an thought I'dpost something. Hell of a win last night at Chicago & go Pacers.

Hill and Hibbert’s cap holds will both be below their market value (well, should be). We extend them right now we enter free agency with less money. Unless one of them wanted to give us a great discount there’s not really reason for us to extend them right now.

Ok.
Thank you. That’s what I’ve been thinking all along. I just wasn’t sure if the rule worked the same way anymore.
Essentially, I think Indy was going to low ball a bit with extensions. Their agents know that, and know that with Indiana holding the right of first refusal (right to match) and Indiana wanting to sign, they’d be better off waiting. There’s no rush and really no advantage for either side to do whatever it takes to reach a deal. Right?

basically
extending them right now, for what it would’ve likely cost, takes away options for us. especially extending Roy, giving him the 11 mil + he’s going to get right now takes away a ton of our cap room.

Right....otherwise it's 200% of his final rookie salary year...
…yes?
Not to mention, we have Bird rights. If we were close to the cap we could go over extending them, but since we are well under the cap, we should use that space as early as possible on desirable UFAs this summer (use it wisely and early of course) and then focus on our own guys. If we make the right moves, I think management would be ok going slightly into the luxury tax with George and Hill combined. It would make it painful to then go even more over the cap keeping Collison (and Hansbrough??? Not sure about him anymore)….but, West will be coming off the books….so what do we do about that?
I like our position. Wish we had signed Granger to a deal that leveled off and started declining each year. I also think we should do that with Hibbert’s contract. Front load it so we have some more space in the next couple summers.

Damn. I need to proof read.
I mean it counts 200% of this years salary until they sign…and I meant I think management might be ok going a little into tax range resigning Hibbert and Hill.
Geez.

There restricted
we still have control.
And I don’t want to judge the Hill extension until we here exactlyh what the numbers were.

I don't get it
I don’t get it -—but then I have never had a good feel for for the cap and extensions etc—-I still don’t understand why mcroberts is gone, and jarrett jack for that matter——-seems players get an opportunity in Indiana-and springboard their way to more money --less success eslewhere—-anyway, I guess we have no choice but to have faith their is a plan and a method in place
The situations are a little different
Hibbert or more precisely, David Falk didn’t want to sign an extension.
