Game Thread: Orlando Magic Vs. Indiana Pacers

Orlando Magic at Indiana Pacers, Jan 24, 2012 7:00 PM EST

Bankers Life Fieldhouse
Radio: 93.1FM WIBC TV: Fox Sports Indiana
Probable starters:
Jameer Nelson PG Darren Collison
Jason Richardson SG Paul George
Hedo Turkoglu SF Danny Granger
Ryan Anderson PF David West
Dwight Howard C Roy Hibbert

The Indiana Pacers take on the Orlando Magic tonight at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in a key matchup between two teams off to strong starts in the Eastern Conference.

Orlando may take issue with that last statement considering they were drubbed by a short-handed Boston Celtics team last night playing without Ray Allen or Rajon Rondo. Still, only managing to score 56 points. Not good news for the Pacers as you can expect the Magic to show a little pride and bounce back with a better effort tonight.

Of course, the big matchup to watch will be Roy Hibbert dealing with a broken nose and Dwight Howard. Sounds like Hibbert will mask up for the game to take on Superman so hopefully it doesn't mess with his mojo. With the next three games on the road, the Pacers need to maintain the home Fieldhouse advantage they've enjoyed so far this season.

Here is the Pacers.com preview. For an Orlando perspective, check out Orlando Pinstriped Post. Also, after the game check outPacers Overtime on WIBC 93.1FM with Eddie White. Need to have an Indy Cornrows mention on the show!

Leave your thoughts and observations on the game in the comments.

Same Ole Pacers

Thats what Dwight, Turk, Richardson and the rest of the flubs are thinking. We need to punk these guys right up out of the feildhouse and do it early…love to see West and Granger lay the wood to them and hope Dwight runs into his kryptonyte against Roy. F**K the Magic!

Roy ready to wear his mask tonight

breathing issues may have him in and out a bit more than usual. Hopefully it is the breathing and not foul trouble.

Pace

Vogel hoping Pacers can push pace. That is always something they are trying to improve but tonight moreso since the Magic prefer the slow pace.

by Tom Lewis on Jan 24, 2012 6:32 PM EST reply actions

Very un-intimidating lineup outside of Dwight Howard

Jameer Nelson- your everyday average pg, Jason Richardson- old and declining rapidly, hedo turkoglu- old slow and another rapidly declining guy, Ryan Anderson- some no name average role player. Then Dwight Howard there to make up for all the negative the other guys protrude.

by Shank Williams Jr on Jan 24, 2012 6:45 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Magic don't stand a chance against our secret weapon against Howard...

… Lou Amundson, with his amazing lock-down defense. Look out, Dwight.

Actually it's a friend whose parents have season tickets. Usually get to go to about 5-10 games a year with him

Not usually for a game vs. a star like D12. Saw LeBron last year though. In the shortened season I’ll probably still get 3-4 more chances at free trips. Dude just doesn’t give me any notice.

peac.e

Being our closer is fine.

But you never saw Reggie with the ball at the top of the key at the beginning of a play. It was in the PG’s hands, and Reggie ran around until he found the shot he wanted. Danny needs to go back and watch his play.

by Jmahoney on Jan 24, 2012 8:13 PM EST up reply actions

Everyone on the team should just give up...

If they did that they still wouldn’t be getting blown out as bad as they are now.

Pacers are the only team on the planet that can get dominated by Earl Clark.

Simmons was right, this team needs to be contracted.

by Jmahoney on Jan 24, 2012 9:05 PM EST reply actions

Welp

I feel this one might end up being an L.

by Nathan S. on Jan 24, 2012 9:07 PM EST reply actions

esp since Orlando got punked by Boston last night. Still stinks.

by Gwen on Jan 24, 2012 9:08 PM EST up reply actions

I had us 12-8 at the end of Jan.

So, we should probably be able to win atleast one more game.

by trucutter on Jan 24, 2012 9:09 PM EST up reply actions

Nah.

We beat LA when we were down 16. Only other time we got down by 10 was against Miami and Philly, who ended up only winning by 10.

At least now we know how good the Pacers are.

Not very, is the answer.

Not in Orlando’s league.

by indytoad on Jan 24, 2012 9:13 PM EST reply actions

So....Let's get this straight.

Boston beats the snot out of Orlando….Indy beats Boston (twice)….Indy = Dleague team?

Anyway…I’m out of Purina Troll Chow….sorry.

by trucutter on Jan 24, 2012 9:15 PM EST up reply actions

Follow this logic...

We beat Celtics by double-figures in both our meetings. Celtics beat Orlando by 30. Orlando is beating us by 20. It’s like rock-paper-scissor. My head is spinning!

by Jmahoney on Jan 24, 2012 9:15 PM EST up reply actions

One of those games is a fluke.

Which one?

Whichever one makes the Pacers terrible. That’s really the only logic I’m operating by at this point.

by indytoad on Jan 24, 2012 9:16 PM EST up reply actions

Good point.

About my use of points.

I guess I should say it’s the only logic I operate on ever, for infinity.

One lesson to take from this...

When a shooter is feeling it, don’t have him sit until 4 minutes left in the second quarter.

by Jmahoney on Jan 24, 2012 9:28 PM EST up reply actions

All mornic troll posts aside....

What they really don’t know how to do is play through an oppenents run. They get outscored by 10 points in any 5-6 minute stretch and they start freaking out and forgetting what makes them hummm.

peac.e

by trucutter on Jan 24, 2012 9:32 PM EST up reply actions

Could explain why they usually play better in the third

when they have more than 30 secs to remind themselves of that.

by Gwen on Jan 24, 2012 9:34 PM EST up reply actions

I guess.

It’s pretty damn infuriating that this team can play long stretches moving the ball and taking good shots….and then get totally lost in hectic stupid play.

I might give them a pass tonight though. Orlando played team ‘D’ like a team that just got their ass kicked by the old-man team at the YMCA…which they sort of did.

by Gwen on Jan 24, 2012 9:31 PM EST up reply actions

It actually isn't as bad as you might think.

…aside from the nausiating 3 point disparity. (I know I spelled at least two words wrong there).

We shot almost 40%…which ain’t too far from our norm.

peac.e

by trucutter on Jan 24, 2012 9:34 PM EST up reply actions

Shooting is down all over the league

but 40% isn’t good, no matter how you slice it.

Heh, Miami is only leading Cleveland by 3. I’m surprised by Cleveland. Playing tough.

by Gwen on Jan 24, 2012 9:38 PM EST up reply actions

We're 27th....

in fg%….we’re 1st in opponents FG%….but over 2/3 of our games have been against teams that are in the bottom 1/2 of the league in FG%…so it’s not just our defense.

peac.e

by trucutter on Jan 24, 2012 9:50 PM EST up reply actions

No...

No it’s not.

It would be nice if some of those shots were falling. I fear we may have trouble defending teams that really spread the floor and have a ton of 3pt shooters (especially forwards)
