The Indiana Pacers wrap up their only West Coast roadie this season when they face the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night. Flying home with a 2-1 record on the trip and a win over the Lakers would sure be sweet only because it won't be easy.
The Lakers are back home after suffering double-digit losses in Florida to Orlando and Miami on national TV which always magnifies all of the team's faults. Essentially you can expect the Lakers to bring that same level of desperation that Sacramento displayed on Wednesday except they'll have Kobe Bryant.
But a bigger challenge for the Pacers will be the rare NBA front court that could present Roy Hibbert and David West problems with the size and productivity of Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol giving the Lakers and advantage.
Here is the Pacers.com preview. For a Lakers perspective, check out Silver Screen and Roll. Also, after the game check out Pacers Overtime on WIBC 93.1FM with Eddie White. Need to have an Indy Cornrows mention on the show!

To Win This one
The Pacers are going to need Danny to step the F**K up with his offense AND Defense. Paul George will need as well to play up to his hype a tad better and Darren and Hill will have to run circles around the Lakers guards. As for Hib and West..Pick n Rolls, Screens and relentless shot blocking and rebounding. But overall “Togetherness” and expect a real Grind it out game in order to to win. Check back in about 4 hrs and we’ll see.

*If Sacremento Sucks, then what are the Pacers?*
They need to work on assists.
Pacers are 27th in the league.
Yeah.
I wonder if we’re quite that low pace adjusted. But still. This team really has no great ball handlers. West and Hibbert have been ok scoring with power dribbles to the basket. But, that stat makes me wonder how in the world we are 10-4.
peac.e
A few things.
We’re best in the league at opponent FG%, second in total rebounding, top five in steals and blocks, and top five in opponent PPG.
Hill should be huge
He has gotten under Kobe’s skin before in the past while with the spurs. When I saw that last yr of him and Kobe face to face I started liking Hill alot then. He was NOT intimidated in one bit. Probably of Coach POP, but nevertheless, he should make Kobe work tonight.

*If Sacremento Sucks, then what are the Pacers?*
If this game makes it out of the 80's
I will be shocked.
Heck, I may be mildly surprise if it makes it to the 80’s.
Yeah
I dont expect anything exploding on the offense, unless our bench..Hill, Tyler, Lance & Dontay can shoot and play prominent “D”, then we can win this one, but expect they’re bigs to match our bigs. Danny will need to pour it on. He should easily torch Barnes but cant see him posting up Artest…so he will need to have his full arsenal tonight. Hope that George and Hill can give Kobe fits and cause him a bad shooting night.

Who are these made for tv commercials marketed towards
That the user always needs to be blindfolded?
We can beat the lakers.
We are a lot better than what our record shows. 10-4 could have been easily 12-2 if we just showed up in Detroit and played better in sacremento. It would have been 11-1 if Henderson did not deck George hill and granger played in Philly.
Or is it just me
13-1, you mean.
And yes, I agree completely.
DC with a stupid play.
Danny had a VERY good uncontested layup, and DC didn’t hit him.
Wow...
… Bynum just shoved Roy. How is that not a foul? Buncha crap.
Why does PG come out at 6 mins in the first every game?
Does anyone know?
West, call And 1 after you make a shot you moron.

by Bronn on May 17, 2011 4:56 PM EDT
This is pathetic.
Welcome to LA, where you don’t get a foul call.
Agree with size disadvantage. Talent....
Not ready to concede except in 2 spot
LA played the last few minutes w/o Pau, Bynum and Kobe.
And there’s no way they have a talent advantage without those three. They’re all they’ve got.
by dustinpurvis on Jan 22, 2012 10:09 PM EST up reply actions
They're whistling ANY contact by our guys.
Hibbert gets shoved from behind and the only reaction he gets is a ref’s cracked smile.
A broken nose is questionable to return? lol
That’s not, like, a definitive you-don’t-play injury?
Hey look
The Pacers are getting blown out by a good team.
Just like what happens every time they play a good team.
Pretenders.
That'll never happen
I’m a terrible person.
I could NEVER be an NBA play-by-play analyst.
I’d get so ticked off that they’d fire me.
FT disparity?
0 for the Pacers, 16 for the Lakers.
Pacers should stop fouling players while they're shooting the ball
Kobe’s not even going to have to play.
That wasn't on the rim?
Instead it turns into a Pacers foul?
Blaming the refs is so weak
Pacers are fouling because they can’t defend. Lakers aren’t fouling because they can.
Would not be surprised if refs call a foul on pacers
While lakers are taking free throws
It's official.
Our defense, which has been smothering teams at times, isn’t going to be allowed to be physical against LA. Refs are killing us.
I hope they don't stop the physical d for the rest of this game, though.
Let the whole team foul out—they’re not going to win playing soft D anyway.
by dustinpurvis on Jan 22, 2012 10:22 PM EST up reply actions
Miami beat us with legit solid offense.
LA is beating us because the refs have given them 21 FTs.
Super weak
Lakers are 10x the team the Pacers are.
Wow. Artest is a 12% shooter from 3 this year.
And he hits one. God damn.
Hibbert
With a broken nose. Should be ok to come back with a mask correct? We are kinda thin at center ATM
Giants bout to win.

Foul on the Lakers
I thought that was unpossible! What about the conspiracy??
Hibbert's nose just got bigger.
If that’s possible. Dude has a huge shnoz.
Paul George can't defend Kobe Bryant
Get him out of there before he embarrasses himself.
George has been bad all season, though
Derrick Rose getting injured was a boon to George’s defensive reputation.
Fairy dust magical?
Or grown men watching basketball magical?
I wish the world worked that way

all in all....not looking too bad
considering the free throw discrepancy, losing Hibbert for much of the half, to only be down 3.
I won’t mention the shooting woes, that’s par for the course
I feel like this has been the team's MO.
They play awful, but they always are somehow in the game. Leaving us all to wonder, how?

although it's the Pacers starters that are keeping them in the game
The Lakers went on their run later in the 1st and beginning of the 2nd, when the bench players were in.
The Refs were NOT good in the first half
I wouldn’t say there was any particular call against the Pacers that was egregious, but it definitely seemed that the Pacers were not allowed to play physically, while the Lakers got away with a lot more.

Barnes with his hand in Roy's chest...
… is a defensive foul?
Pacers are 8/9 from the line.
Showing why we’re top five in the league in FT%.
Haha, the Eastern upper tier is so tight that...
… Miami losing sent Indy from 6th to 3rd in the East. lol
I'm a little worried that the Bynum T is ultimately going to screw us over as far as foul calls go.
Something similar happened in the Sac game after Keith Smart ran onto the court.
Shouldn't that have been backcourt?

You know, this early season non-stop road schedule may be a blessing in disguise.
Pacers fans aren’t going to a lot of games at home in the early part of the season, because casual fans don’t want to see a mediocre team that sneaked into the playoffs. But once we start getting into the heavy home game portion of the schedule with a .700 record, people are going to realize this team is for real. It has the potential to be very good for the Indy economy.
How much are tickets at Conseco Fieldhouse?

Too damn much for the casual fan.
On a good night, mid-level seats are over $100 against crappy teams. Nosebleeds are $15-20. Premier teams visiting Indy? Double those numbers.
eeeek
no seat should be over $100. Those nosebleed prices are nice. But you could get good seats for a Fever game with that money.

West put in almost 40 minutes tonight.
Season high. Means he’s feeling better. Excellent.
Ah that's good news. Especially since Hansbrough seems to be going through a pretty rough slump.
Seriously, what’s happened to his offense? He didn’t score tonight.

I think he's questioning his toughness.
Dude was taking it to people early and often in the first 10 games. Drawing fouls and frustrating opponents. He hasn’t been the same since he got hit against Philly, and his shooting has gotten even worse.
11-4
We have not played the toughest opponents, but don’t forget this
Road Games: 10
Home Games: 5
boom baby
Kobe shot 30 times...
… and hit 47% of them. League won’t be the same when he retires.
This was a VERY good game for us to shoot well.
Because people will watch this game. Glad we didn’t crap out like we did against Miami.
So who's ready for the mass of headlines/stories regarding this game that forget to mention the Pacers?
I'm sorry, I can't help it...
… but we’re tied for the 3rd best record in the league. That’s so awesome.
Not really related, but I was looking at box scores and Charlotte's team is terrible
Jordan has done a horrible job “building” teams wherever he’s been
Honestly I can't fathom how Charlotte has won three games this season.

Especially since Diaw and Diop are overweight.
It’s like they were banking on there not being a season, so they camped it on the couch for six months.
Mullens finally coming on...sort of.
I actually thought he’d end up being a good defender and rebounder, but never a reliable scorer. Is he just getting garbage points? He’s averaging like mid-teens in points.

Biyambo had something like 11 and 7 with four blocks in less than 20 minutes today.
Albeit that’s because he had five fouls.

Four blocks?
Big deal, Danny had 4 blocks today. Well, they called one a foul, but it was about as clean as they come.
It does look like Bismarkee Biyambo is living up to about what people expected. Raw, but with the physical gifts to score on put backs, rebound and block shots.

FSN is airing the game again.
It was so good I’m watching it a second time. lol
Unlike the East, the West has a good 1-10.
Should be a battle for playoff spots over there. The East is a completely different story. There are 6 good teams, so 1-6 in the playoffs are set.
Just doing my math here.
In no particular order. MIA, CHI, PHI, ATL (if they can hang on without Horford), ORL, IND….yup. I actually think that top six is better than the West’s top six.
Let’s see. MIL should battle for one of those last spots. Who else though? NY? BOS? Shit…CLE? That’d be a fun 1st round matchup. MIA vs. CLE? Wow.

We can beat any team in the league.
If we defend and pass like that and are shots are falling. Might actually want to have someone punch Roy in the face during the shoot around though. WOW!!!
Great game.

Sort of side note
Loving the shot distribution, 6 guys in double figures again, plus Dahntay chiming in for 9
Great win, refs were horrible though
honestly I think the Lakers tv crew could’ve called a better and fairer game. They picked up a lot of the refs mistakes in real time, and from the press row. Between this and the 4th quarter in Sacramento, I don’t feel at all guilty about George Hill’s kicking skills.
Glad the Pacers got the win, so I don’t have to be angry all night about that. Great job by Roy. Pacers need to do whatever it takes to resign him.
There were stretches where I was thinking....
…just blow the damn whistle when they cross half court and save everyone some sweat.

HEEEEEEEEELLLLL YEAHHHHHHH!!!!
The Lakers’ fans have to be the worst fans in the league. Either that or the game mics don’t pick up any noise. Great day. What an awsome, tight game. And they were sitting on their hands.
