The Indiana Pacers hit the Bay Area on Friday night to resume their road trip against the Golden State Warriors. Both teams suffered tough road losses on Wednesday so there will be no short supply of motivation to win this one.
Former Pacers legend Mark Jackson has already made an impact on the Warriors in his first coaching gig, doing his best to add a little defensive edge to the formerly fast-paced offensive attack. The Dubs remain a work in progress, currently 26th in the league in defensive efficiency but they do count impressive wins over Chicago and Miami among their five W's so far this season showing they have the firepower to take down the league's elite on any night.
The Pacers need to get back to focusing on executing their game plan and working that plan for 48 minutes. The "Breakdown in Sactown" was due in large part to the Pacers straying from their strengths and then being unable to find that groove that had them rolling through three quarters. In other words, if the game has yet to be decided, David West should be on the court in the final three minutes.
Here is the Pacers.com preview. For a Golden State perspective, check out Golden State of Mind. Also, after the game check out Pacers Overtime on WIBC 93.1FM with Eddie White. Need to have an Indy Cornrows mention on the show!

Really looking for a commanding win here tonight.
We’re on the road facing a dangerous Warriors team that can go off on any given night. That said, I think our defense – which leads the league in opponent FG% – can really give these guys fits. Hopefully this one will leave us feeling better than the Sacramento game.

So, I’m walking down Market, on my phone, and I notice Brian Shaw. I think he’s in a Warriors sweatsuit and I’m confused, then I double take and notice it’s Pacers. Next thing I notice is how oblivious I was, and how entire Pacers team is getting off a bus to my right..
Hibbert’s skinnier in person than I thought but every bit of 7ft2+.
Ps. I yelled "Roy sign for the dubs this summer!"
He kind of smirked, Lou was laughing and said something I couldn’t hear, Granger kind of mugged me like he wanted to fight. Doesn’t want his big man gone!

Are very passionate. With only a hand full of successful seasons their fans are some of the truest in all of sports.

We will have legs in this game
The Sacramento game went to around midnight Indianapolis time. It takes a few days to manage the shift in time zones, especially if you are running around madly on a basketball court.
Tyler Hansbrough
will have a double-double.
I sure hope they win tonight.
Need this one to avoid slipping and sliding into a potentially bad losing streak.
I really love this Golden State team. They’re probably my third favorite (after the Bulls) in the league. And I dig ’em even more now that they have Brandon. Plus those jerseys are the best in the Association.
Paul George has put up some shots already.
Good to see he’s playing with a little confidence. Too bad he’s not converting.
We're looking very aggressive tonight.
Pretty sure these guys are still pissed about Sacramento.
I don't feel so bad...
… because Sacramento is about to beat San Antonio.
On San Antonio's home court no less...
… where the Spurs are 9-0.
Yeah, that's crazy.
They just handed the Spurs their first home loss.
What the heck?
I’m sure Danny shoved that guy so hard that it sent him flying across the lane. Totally no acting there.
You think they'd give us Ellis for Lou?
They really like Lou there. They’d do that, right?
Maybe that Sacramento game woke Danny up?
Cuz he’s 4-6 tonight in double digits. Hope it sticks.
Can’t have Hill and DC out there at the same time with Monta out there.

Off topic but Minnesota and Clippers on ESPN
I’m actually looking forward to the Indiana/Minn game just to watch Rubio.
I honestly didn’t think he’d do well in the NBA. He’s looked pretty good. Not sure how his D is.

Supposedly, his defense is pretty good.
I’m not sure how well he shoots, but his passing and defense are what people are talking about.
Danny always seems
To play well against Golden State. I hope he’s breaking out in a sense, but I’ll need to see more against other teams before I get too excited.
George Hill for Brandon Rush, straight up trade?
We’d get bigger. Taller = better, right?
First quarter, Danny's come to play.
Maintain, Danny G.
Remember when the Warriors ran that exact same play to end the game last year?
The only difference is that last year it was Rush on Monta.
Loved that we only had 2 TOs. Let’s make that a trend.

Why does PG...
… come out of the game in the first quarter at the 6 minute mark, no matter his efficiency? Anyone know?
How does pushing a guy out of bounds...
… give you the ball?
This second unit is beyond horrible.
Get PG in there or something.

by Bronn on May 17, 2011 4:56 PM EDT
If you think about it, it's really just the lack of Foster that hurts the second unit.
When he’s out there, they do SO much better.
I’m thinking Bird has to make some kind of trade to get a SG.

A backup Center.
Lou doesn’t bring enough, and Foster may only play half the season.
Sunday may suck.
Lakers coming off a bad loss to Orlando.
In order for Lance to be effective...
I believe he has to be on the floor with some of the starters. He’s a drive and dish player and needs people who can score around him.
I think the bench is better with AJ.
They seem more organized when he is over Lance.
Jones needs to understand
That he’s not a terrible scorer when we have all bench players on the floor he should have the Green light. When more than one starter is out ther with him???? Pass.
peac.e
He says that everytime he shoots it
You haven’t noticed that yet?
Unless it’s a wide open jumper…he’s going to say “And One”
Like a nervous tick.
peac.e
For the life of me
I’ll never understand why Vogel keeps DC on the bench for over half the 2nd qtr.
I think Danny should always be out there...
…when we have Amundson, Hansbrough, and Jones/lance on the court.
peac.e
That play where the 2 warriors players ran into each other was a travel
They hit each other and the guy with the ball took 2 or 3 steps.
Danny G knocking down his perimeter shots.
Even though it’s after a whistle, good to see him hit the dead ball shot.
Good
Glad to see. Hopefully I can catch a good second half!
David West is hurt...
… so we kill Monta Ellis’ future children? Good trade off.
They're great
Just the type of humor I get up for. I wish there were more, but having more might kill the mood of them. The spinning basketball is out of this world funny.
Did not see big chunk of 1st half.
Saw only last min when hill air balled a 3. Has Brandon rush seen any playing time? Doing like how he did as a pacer or playing better?
Exactly the same as the Pacers
From what I’ve seen. Hit an opening shot, average defense, then disappeared or went back to the bench, I’m not sure which.
Rush looks OK

Not likely to see the game.
Does anyone know if streams can be played using iPad?
Haha, did anyone just see PG...

Did anyone think for a second...
…That Tyler was going to shoot that 25 footer from the top of the key on that last possesion?

Back-to-back stupid decisions.
Hibbert has only 5 shots. They can’t defend against him. Why are we going away from Hibbert??/

So David and Danny can't get fouls.
Good to know.
I really like the intensity that West brings.
Like our version of Garnett.
Vogel better tell these guys to keep pounding the ball. When you are in the penalty there should be no reason to settle for jumpers. They’ll be tentative in the post.

Something they def need to take advantage of.

I was agreeing
But they have tended to step away from doing that once they’ve gotten in the penalty.
It's so exciting knowing that Roy...
… can’t hit FTs anymore. Turning more into Dwight every day.
Rather hear that
Than the ESPN crew talk about Mark Price for an extended period of time in the first quarter of Magic/Lakers.
Why is the game close?
Shouldn’t we be pulling away in the third and make it close in the fourth?
I wonder if he'll continue to shy away from contact if he adds a little more muscle.
Not sure how that usually works.

he seems like he doesn't have a clear plan when he goes to the basket
He needs to make up his mind and execute.
We have two guys playing good offensively this game.
Granger and West. Everyone else is shooting under 40%, save for Hill who is 2-5.
Like Granger...
…they’re having him do things offensively he’s not particularly good at.
OMG, Golden States dancers...
… are aaaawesome.
I have no clue why coach keeps Hill out there on Ellis. Just bad coaching if you ask me. This is a game where you have to use someone like Lance or even AJ more.

They seem to have this strategy where they go to Roy early, and he looks good, and then go away from him for the rest of the game.
He could have a legitimate shot at a 20/20 game tonight.

Games like this make me miss
Reggie, Davis boys, smits, jalen, jackson and mull in
David West is beyond strong.
He moved Udoh with no effort.
Probably his best game since joining the team.

Wow, you guys are stupid.
Roy gets the ball for nine minutes in the post and NO one comes to help?
Total basket interference.
It was on the rim. Love the crappy no-call.
My God, such BS.
Teams that only shoot jump shots need to be put out to pasture.
Live and die by the jump shot.
Grats, Warriors. You’ll never win a best of seven series.
Does he kinda look like a girl...

I like the dude, and we all know he’s got a baby face.
But he just looks creepy.

West won't draw a foul.
Not sure why, but he’s getting knocked around and isn’t getting his whistles.
You know what's bullshit about the 24 second clock?
If a team knocks it away and you have to fight over the ball, how is that a violation? If you lose the ball and it becomes loose, how is that a violation?
Pacers are going to lose.
Because they have no offense.
If we lose, it's on Collison.
1-12. So damn pathetic.
Great play by Hill

10-4 through the easy portion of the schedule
Not a bad place to be. I’m sure we all would’ve taken it even if two of the losses were to Detroit and Sacramento.
But then come the playoffs and it's all new.
I can see them getting swept in the first round or winning a game or two in the ECF. They’re going to be that infuriating.

I know Hansbro doesn't have a good FG% anyway, but he looked better in the beginning
of the year when he wasn’t passing to anyone. Maybe those assists are affecting his shot? (I don’t believe that either.)
As good as Monta played...
… Danny still shot better and scored more.
Woah you're right.

And he’s playing his best defense….then yes.
Otherwise, Ellis is more dynamic and harder to replace.

he went to school there in the late 90s so maybe the oooey poooey was discontinued
or not encouraged by the administration. I don’t know anyone who goes there now, so I don’t know if they still called it that.
This comment...
… is the goodest comment. He was 1-12 and would jack up 20-footers with 20 seconds on the shot clock.
And then there were those.
Had like 3 or 4 really bad jumpshots, some in transition….very S-Jacksonesque.
peac.e
Yeah.
He started attacking the lane early and they were expecting it so he never got those easy looks late in the 2nd early in the 3rd.
I keep saying he’s getting those high % looks later when people forget about him.
peac.e
Yup
He needs to facilitate the offense in the early going, and then start focusing on scoring in the late stages of the 3rd.
I'm fine with Collison looking for his shot early
But he’s a player that is clearly on or off. And he was off tonight. Twelve shots is too much when he’s not getting those little floaters to go in.
So am I
But he needs to make better decisions, and quicker decisions when shooting. Like tonight, he needs to learn to turn it off and start passing first.
I didn't start watching until the 3rd quarter
but I didn’t see DC leave the game. Maybe he was tired? I was wondering if vogel would ever give him a break. Also wondering why they didn’t put PG on Ellis down the stretch, though of course Hill came through big time in the end.
First time I've seen West this aggressive in a Pacers uniform
Hopefully it’s just the beginning
Rough game by DC and PG, but West, Granger and Hibbert made up for it.
Also, I feel like it should be pointed out: Dahntay Jones played pretty well on both sides of the ball.
George Hill was a damn good acquisition.
SO glad we got him! They just showed his steal and basket again, and it looked SOOO good.
He needs to know his role though.
He’s a good enough scorer to be the 2nd option behind Hill when there’s no West, Granger, Hibbert or Paul on the floor.
Otherwise he needs to only take wide open jumpers and cut towards the basket but pass the ball when he has it.
peac.e
He always had decent scoring games and rebounding numbers
but couldn’t defend if he had an extra pair of arms. I don’t have bad feeling about him, though. More like…eh
Kobe's had a few bad games in a row.
Hope he doesn’t come out of that yet.
Kobe 8-24 from the floor.
But He’ll get 10 from the stripe and their bigs will dominate us and make Roy remember that he’s still 2nd tier….God love him.
peac.e
Did you see his technical against Lebron?
Threw an elbow right into his face, like a damn battering ram.
so his aim is getting better?
he just scored a glancing blow on Noah in the playoffs last year
He RAMMED him. It was an awesome foul.
Totally wrong and uncalled for, but yeah, he connected right in LBJ’s jaw.
Yeah, I meant to reply to full sail.
I’d have loved him to take Noah’s freaking head off. Hated that guy’s attitude in the playoffs.
I was also talking about Noah
I’m not a fan of LeBron, but it’s nothing compared to my loathing of Noah.
See, all we had to do was give McRoberts time to develop and he could be throwing elbows at all the Bulls we hate
Made good adjustments from the Kings game.
More assists and they only had 7 O-Boards.

I aint’ really mad at him. He also played pretty good defense despite all of Ellis’ circus shots (some against Hill).
Just that 6 or 7 of his bad shots could’ve been positive possesions where he added to his assist total.
peac.e
Ellis honestly wasn't badly defended at all, really not once that I can remember off hand
the dude can just make shots, good offense beats good defense as Quinn’d say

I did think they could've done a better job...
…sending a little weakside help for Hill on those post ups.
But, eventually Hill figured out how to make Monte take his least prefered shot out of those.
peac.e
Sunday will be interesting seeing Roy and Bynum.
It’ll be a good indicator of how Roy has developed as a true center. Could be a good match-up or a total let-down.
I'm afraid that we'll see...
…That Roy hasn’t faced any good big men yet and that he’s done a great job of learning how to beat scrubs….but will still struggle against legit bigs. However, at 7’2". That hook shot is getting to be killer. No one can defend that. It’s just their ability to push him off his spot that worries me.

Most people have said that for a long time.
He tries on the court 60-70% of the time. Which is about the average effort level for NBA starters….but off the court he must be like AI.
