Pierce to Pacers trade in the works? " on: Yesterday at 11:42:17 pm "

i saw this in celticsblog.com. say it ain't so, larry.

Apparently its being "reported" that there's a potential trade in the works for Pierce. The trade would have Pierce heading to the Pacers for Paul George, Louis Amundson, and a draft pick. I have no idea how valid this since I see no one else reporting it but the trades interesting.

Here's the link...

http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/284666/20120119/paul-pierce-trade-rumors-pacers-frontrunners-land.htm

Would you do it? Its actually not half bad for 34 year old pierce. You get a young proven shooter with potential in George , a center presence with Amundson, and an additional pick (though not specified 1st or 2nd round) for a loaded draft we already have 3 picks for...

It would be a good rebuilding move and we would get young talent. So if this is real, do you think DA does this? Would you do it?

This sounds like bullshit

And it’s not a “report.” It’s this writer speculating. I wouldn’t have even posted this here as a rumor, because it’s not. Hoopshype covers credible rumors daily, and when they pick it up I’ll start questioning Bird’s sanity. Until then, this is just someone bullshitting.

Also

Whoever posted it on the Celtics blog misrepresented it as a “trade in the works,” or that there “have been talks.” No. It’s all made up. If there have been talks it’s coincidence.

What pisses me off the most...

About these fake rumors is if the internet wannabe journalists actually get shit like this rolling, we fans aren’t the only ones who are potentially affected. PG could be taking a hit to his confidence if something like this builds enough steam.

i think this "rumor" is going to die a natural death.

half the celtic bloggers don’t believe it either. too good to be true for the celtics.

I say do it!

I think with Pierce we would be Championship contenders for 2 or 3 years . . . I say go for it. . . I’m ready to win. PG has still to impress . . .Sorry PG Fans . . . I’m a rated R guy.

That is laughable. Paul is a SF. We going to flip Granger for a SG then?

They’d have to throw in Rondo.

I could see doing this for Rondo.

But not Pierce. We’re essentially trading George for Pierce straight up, and throwing in Amundson and a 1st for Pierce’s wheelchair and AARP membership fees.

I would like to get Rondo though.

Disagree

Sorry, but I disagree about Rondo. I think Collison is a young
& improving taken who is going to do nothing but get better. PG needs to stay with us (see my comments on why below in a seperate comment) & we have great chemistry right now, Why mess with that right now???

If Larry Bird does that, he’s more of a Celtic than a Pacer.

Bird

If he does that the Hoosier fans will pull out their shotguns.

OK What About

Adding a 3rd team so we can get something back in return if were loosing George. Throw in NJ and add D.Will to this shit and lets see what happens then and who ends up where OR better yet add NO to this crap and throw in EG. But George for Pierce??? Somebody is sniffing the glue too much in Boston. Yeah, I’d like to be a top 3 beast in the east by adding some star power like the Celtics started a few yrs ago. We can get Rondo and Eric Gordon with a 3 team deal, that would be OK.

I would say THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY Paul George should be traded!

"The Pacers might consider shipping swingman Paul George, center Louis Amundson, and a draft pick, for Pierce."

That’s a direct quote from the article, so in other words, it’s all just speculation.

The article’s logic goes as this:
Danny Ainge once talked about if he were in position to do so, he would’ve broken up Boston’s original big 3 of Bird, Parrish and McHale in order to keep the Celtics more competitive long term——>Maybe Ainge is going to break up the current big 3—→Any team to take a guy like Pierce would have to be a contender, have some good pieces, and some cap space—→Hey the Pacers are like that!——>Maybe PG, a draft pick and Amundson would get it done

In other words, it’s just speculation.
About the same level as the person who saw a tall guy board an Orlando-Indianapolis flight and speculated that Dwight Howard was getting traded to the Pacers.

Who DIDN’T we give in that speculative.

Hell Noooooo. Pierce lost his edge and is on the downhill direction talent wise. Paul like Hibbert is a superb Pacer both on and off the court. His sophomore mistakes will dwindle as games goes by. Indiana should do what it takes to maintain its core of Darren, Roy and Paul… they will become Indiana’s Big Three someday

by eagle_eye22 on Jan 21, 2012 3:21 AM EST reply actions

Yea.

At least until Bird is fired. In fact….I’d root against them in hopes that it would get Bird out sooner.

But, I don’t see him doing this ridiculous trade.

no way

just ainge floating trade rumors to see if there any takers for pierce——larry Joe would never make that move—-granger either

Paul pierce for Paul George

At this point in their respective careers, I would not even consider a one on one trade. Not only has Pierce became inconsisent in his play, he is nearing the end of his career, not to mention the $$$$.
George on the other hand is 21 years old and just learning the game, His upside is limitless. His demeanor reminds me of Reggie (that quiet confidence & great competitive spirit). Talent wise, his athletic ability is awesome and he has good shooting range and very nice touch. Also, PG has become our best stopper. How many players can limit Bryant, Rose,or any other player or position that Vogel thinks needs attention.
Larry Bird is much to bright to consider such a trade.

No way

if they made this trade, i’d quit watching. in fact, i’d be really angry.
