Around SBN: How The Kings Beat The Coyotes: Lather, Rinse, Repeat

This is getting so boring.

As a Pacer fan, I am thankful that they have this down time to recuperate from ailments and get some much needed and deserved rest. But the lack of Pacer news (guess no news is good news anyway) and not much happening around the league except the usual games is making my day quite boring so maybe we can have some Pacer fun/survey.

The Pacers have fielded a number of quality teams over the years. Some played well as expected, some overachieved like the decimated line-up after the brawl while others simply underachieved. In my opinion, we had 3 quality teams in recent memory. Just want to see which one you guys think will win a single round robin match and a 7-game series between the top 2 teams.

Team 1: Mark Jackson, Reggie Miller, Jalen Rose, Dale Davis, Rik Smits. Bench: Antonio Davis, Chris Mullin, Derrick McKey, Travis Best. rookie Austin Croshere, Mark Pope, Fred hioberg

Team 2: Jamaal Tinsley, Reggie Miller, Ron Artest (Metta World Peace), Jermaine O'Neal, Jeff Foster. Bench: Austin Corshere, Dale Davis, Stephen Jackson, David Harrison, Jonathan Bender, Anthony Johnson, Fred Jones

Team 3: Darren Collison, Paul George, Danny Granger, David West, Roy Hibbert. Bench: George Hill, Tyler Hansbrough, Jeff Foster, Dahntay Jones, Lance Stephenson, AJ Price, Lou Amunson and Jeff Pendergraph

Team 2 was better with Big Al, i thought. At least, that is the year we led the nba…For it’s era, team 1 was better, but team 2 would probably win that matchup. Jermaine was an MVP (or should have been), artest was dpoy and harrington was 6th man: the matchup issues would have been rediculous (not to mention the “old” paul george: the freakishly long jonny bender)

kinda agree with you and i even forgot to include al harrington.

if not for the brawl, who knows……

this looks like the one that got away

Damn It Man!

Dont remind me of team 2. We were champions bound that yr until Ron and Steven went dumb-ass on us and ruined Reggie’s chance on getting a ring.

Funny how destiny works.

That brawl ruined the chance of getting a ring for everyone on that team except the 2 who got into it. Ron got one with the lakers while jax got one with the spurs before the brawl.

Fate. Can be a ….

As of today team 3 gets blown out in any of these matchups

Ask again in a year or two. Hopefully they’ve continued to grow. There’s simply not enough good vets on this current squad to make a long playoff run like those other teams, IMO

Team 1

Best Pacers team ever.

Well...

Team 1 was the most saavy. Team 2 was the most ferious. Team 3 for now seems to be a combo of smarts/togetherness/atheletism. Hybrid of team 1 and team 2 maybe??

Team 2 is scary but

Team1 has a big advantage at the point guard position. Also, I think the Davis boys would have given o’neal a tough time although foster would have done the same with smits. Would have been tough but if I had to make a choice, team 1 by a hair. Their bench is more savvy than team 2’s bench. Although team 2’s bench is more talented, the experience of team1’s bench would have found a way to beat them albeit not by much. Also, Ron Ron is an road rage waiting to happen.

Dale Davis was traded for Jermaine. Not sure how Dale is on the bench for team 2.

And it's now my sig

Good catch

I also think David Harrison should be banned from any “best of” conversation. He’s one of those guys like Jon Bender (only the less likeable, and completely without the injury excuse version) who’s awesome in video games but ineffective in real life. At least Bender had old man knees. Harrison was just too stoned to ever try.

because he re-signed here after getting traded from Portland

and gave JO some much needed help with physicality down low for a third of a season or so before moving on to the Pistons.

Tinsley got playing time for Utah vs Clippers last night.

I am sure he will get a warm welcome when he comes to Indy in February.

lololol team 3 would lose miami heat style to each of those

in a series of 7 team 1 would win because they know how to win and sometimes that’s all you need when talent is close to equal.

My mind is hurting

because I tried to figure out how a Reggie vs Reggie matchup would go, do they run each other into the ground? Or do they each go off for 40ppg. :S

by DougInOz on Jan 18, 2012 6:45 PM EST reply actions

Like an older but more savvy Reggie vs a Reggie in his prime.

Either way, they would be chasing each other to the dugout
