You must be new here...
…but everyone here loves the idea of EJ coming to Indy and this exact trade concept has been discussed many times on here.
Nope not new
Just saying what I’d like to see, BUT more importantly what OTHER scenarios people were thinking

Great!!
Then we will figure out how we go about getting scoring SF? Trading Granger for Gordon does not make this team better. This move would be par my friend
Eric gordon is enticing
But my god, saying he’s injury prone “at times” is a massive understatement. Not on any level has he been able to remain healthy enough to contribute on a consistent basis. Hoping that his future would be any different than his present or past would foolish.

James Harden
Not that i have any ideas on how to get him from OKC but man would he be the perfect 2 guard for this team. Creates his own shot, and can create for others
Yeah...that'd be nice.
If they keep Westbrook, it will be a bit tough for them to keep Harden and still have any kind of front court. But, his FA is a couple years down the line….so, who knows?

I'm not at all sold on Gordon
Not as a sure fire all-star type. The health is my biggest concern, but I think he can get into bad grooves at times falling in love with the 3. And I don’t think he’s much to write home about defensively.
I think for the time being we need to focus on ball movement and finding good shots for the people we already HAVE on our team. I’m in no way saying we have all the pieces we need for a title run or anything. But, acquiring the kind of upgrade via trade any time in the immediate future is going to be too costly to justify I think.

How about they stick with what's working for now.
Gordon is nice but he stays injured. Why would that suddenly change?

Monta Ellis is overrated.
I can’t understand why people like him so much. Eric Gordon? Yeah, the guy can play. Of course, you have to stay on the court to do that.

Honestly,
I love the idea of having Paul George be our “scoring” 2-guard. Ladies and gentlemen, I know that we all want to sit here and fiddle with the pieces, but right now, we have a 6’10" shooting guard who is number 3 in the league in 3pt%, looks good but sloppy with his dribble, and is lightyears ahead of where he was last year. At the “3”, we have a lights out shooter who is an above average defender when he keeps his focus. Why would we move our current productive “2” to the “3” spot, and get rid of an a player ESPN ranked ~37th best player in the league?
I know a lot of people harp on Danny, but he’s a productive player who has been asked to completely change the way he plays the game in the last 10 months. AND, he is doing it without having the benefit of a real offseason, training camp, or preseason. Not to mention that, once games started, practice time has been virtually nonexistent. Yes, he has struggled at times this year, but #$%^ they guy had the green light to take any shot he wanted for 3-4 years. It takes some time to change that mentality.
I like Eric Gordon’s game, and I loved it when I watched him play HS ball in Indy. However, the kid is injury prone, and we have a decent shot to get him in 1-2 years during free agency (restricted next year, unrestricted the year after). Let’s just calm down, and notice that this team is getting better with each and every game.
O, and our Pacers are now 9-3. Let’s just slow our roll here, people.

Well...
Danny and productive…not some much YET this year. And when you say, “has been asked to completely change the way he plays the game in the last 10 months. AND, he is doing it without having the benefit of a real offseason, training camp, or preseason.”
I wouldn’t say “he’s doing it…”
I would say he’s having a pretty tough time adjusting to his new role. None the less, the rest of that statement gives me hope that he can find his role.
I’m not going to go easy on Danny just b/c he was our best player for a few years. We were a terrible team. He needs to prove that he can be effective on a good team. At this point, he’s hurting us about as much as he’s helping us…at least when you consider his price tag. I think he CAN, and probably will end up earning that $12mil. by seasons end.
peac.e
okay, well, if you want to be technical....
Replace “doing it” with “has been asked to do it” and it will be more what I meant. I’m not asking you to go easy on him because he is/was our best player for a few years. I am asking you to go easy on a guy who has spent the majority of his professional career doing things one way and is being asked to do things another way, without the benefit of a reasonable amount of training in between.
If you look at the guys who have been here a few years, only two of them have significantly different roles in our offense than they have had in the past: Roy Hibbert and Danny Granger. Hibbert has been incredible this year, but, to be honest, he was an afterthought in JOB’s offense. I feel like it is much easier to be given the ball more often than you were previously than it is to be asked to give the ball up more often than you ever have.
If Danny is still jacking up poor shots, failing to spread the ball, and having mental lapses on defense in April, then he has earned some hardcore criticism. For now, I think, the proper response is to “wait and see”.
Print It.
No doubt.
That’s pretty much what I was saying. He’s not performing the way we need him to and it hasn’t been a seemless transition. I think if his shots were falling, we’d still view him as our go to guy and he’d be averaging a couple more ppg than anyone else.
As it stands now, he’s slowly but surely improving his shot selection, still forced to take the tough shots at the end of the clock (hurting his % even worse), but his defense is probably better than ever. So, I’m not saying he’s completely destroying the team.
I agree, if he isn’t catching on by March…and I mean showing real steady improvement between now and then, I think we have some concerns. For the time being he’s just having trouble adjusting and even the good looks he’s getting aren’t falling which is exasberating the whole perception….but I think most of us agree, my self included, that the circumstance warrant a little patience.

Now we need to work on Hansbrough.
His lack of team play isn’t getting any better…maybe actually getting worse as the season wears on.

Wilson Chandler
Once he gets out of that shithole world he’s in. I believe March or sometime Feb? Maybe Bird is waiting on him. Yes?

We could be enticing, but he wouldn’t get much playing time. Not sure he’d want that. Love to pick him up though.

Hopefully, he'll sign a short term contract.
B/c I think he’d be a great replacement for Danny IF (don’t flip on me Danny supporters), IF we decide to trade Danny or not re-sign him.

I agree with Center—-we are not in bad shape, in fact good shape for the East, the road trip out west will give us an idea on how we shape up against the west. The boys are just now learning to play together, if they stay together, we have the pieces for a pretty fair team. Danny has been under pressure for 3 or 4 years to carry the team, and he worked hard at it. I think he is starting to have fun, winning will do that, and with Obrien gone, I am starting to have fun watching. No players in the dog house, no ridiculous threes from everyone, rebounding, defense, running plays, common sense substitutions——OMG, we have a coach too! (and some talented assistants)
We don’t fix what ain’t broke, why fiddle with the current line up which is starting to work as a unit? We don’t want to acquire a volume shooter SG who’s gonna eat up most of the team’s ball possession.
I said it before, if Bird can tame Agent Zero, why not give him a shot?
Because of those gun charges – no way will Bird have anything to do with that @hole. Get over him.

Prefably
we keep the team intact, wait for Mayo..
No Gordon, no way, no how.
This team made a huge leap from last season to this, and it sure wasn’t all due to the acquisition of West and Hill. Why not wait and see how things pan out now that we’re winning, at least until the deadline?
Granger may be a slow starter, but we need to give him time to round into shape. Not sure if Gordon has played more than 1 or 2 games this season, and he’s on IR for another couple of weeks. Why should this type of availability/ unavailability change?
The best player is the one that’s available to play.
wonder what we’d complain about if we were 6-6 instead of 9-3

Ooops hit return too fast.
You didn’t like those unis? Those MFers were beast. Classic look. Best Pacers uniforms ever.

Really???
You’re crazy.
The new ones are so boring and non-descript. I hate them. It looks like someone asked Earnest Hemmingway to describe a basketball Jersey.
“It is long. It won’t have sleeves. It will be a color. It will be worn by large men.” Now go make it.

Didn't say I liked the new ones.
I prefer a certain retro uniform. I made a post regarding this before… a poorly, poorly done post, but a post nonetheless.

lame...
This is getting old!!! Granger is our best player if you like it or not! He is our leader right now so deal with it. After every game is some other granger talk! He did this, that, he should have pass, he made a bad shot! You know its funny how pacer fans are eager to trade him, while fans from other teams think he is awesome! Geee give the man a break!! He is like the 5th or 4th best small forward in the league! Who better can fill the sf spot for us right now?? And please don’t tell me PG because he is not ready as yet!

Not just fans...
Players on other teams go in fear of Danny, too. Most of them would love to have him on their roster if we would be foolish enough to trade him for anything less than can’t-miss potential.

What?
Seriously. I don’t think so. Danny is a good player. Hopefully he can get back to where he was a top 5 SF in the league. But right now he’s not. Even saying he’s our best player right now is a pretty big stretch. This season, Hibbert is clearly better; PG, Hill and West are right there with him. West seems like our leader (along with maybe Hibbert) at this point.
There are no better options out there to be had. I think we should keep him. Mostly b/c I hope he’ll learn how to fit into our team dynamic, average in the high teens in scoring with a career high FG% (almost impossible to salvage that much at this point). His defense has been great and that’s maybe the only reason I’m willing to be patient with his shooting and shot selection at this point. He hasn’t helped the offense that much b/c he’s struggling to find his role and learn when to shoot and when to pass. He is getting better I think. But another big reason I wouldn’t trade him is that he’s about to be one of the top 30 or so paid players in the league. Don’t kid yourself. We don’t have any where near as many options to trade Danny as people on here want to believe. No one is beating down our door for Danny unless they think we are just going to sallary dump him for a late 1st round/2nd round pick or something.
He’s not a super star and 10 games of good defense isn’t going to convince teams that his poor shooting and tunnel vision on offense will change if he becomes a compliment on a good team…and a bad team isn’t going to build around him or give up a good young player or picks for him. So what’s left? Who really is going to give up what we’d ask for Danny right now? No one.
Don’t trade Danny. Not because he’s the heart and soul of central Indiana and he’s everything we need right now…no, not only is that not true, it’s not the reason we shouldn’t trade him…don’t trade him…because we can’t.
peac.e
Not really to Smith...
…yes to Chandler.
Assuming the price is right.
I just don’t know if he’d want to come in somewhere to be a backup. I’m thinking he’ll sign a one year (remainder of the season) with the team giving him the most money to be a starter (even if we gave him more money). Then he can get a chance to earn even more this summer.
Besides, how do you know he’s not going to stay in China? hahahaha.
Those players that went and couldn’t get out of their deals should’ve threatened mass suicide.
peac.e
Yes....
Only if he weren’t such a problem child.
