Game Thread: Boston Celtics Vs. Indiana Pacers

Boston Celtics at Indiana Pacers, Jan 14, 2012 7:00 PM EST

January 14, 2012 - 7:00PM EST
Bankers Life Fieldhouse
Radio: 93.1FM WIBC TV: Fox Sports Indiana
Probable starters:
Rajon Rondo PG Darren Collison
Ray Allen SG Paul George
Paul Pierce SF Danny Granger
Kevin Garnett PF David West
Jermaine O'Neal C Roy Hibbert

The Indiana Pacers take on the Boston Celtics tonight at Bankers Life Fieldhouse after expending a lot of energy on Friday night coming back and beat the Toronto Raptors in the fourth quarter. Of course, Danny Granger will be fresh as a daisy after getting tossed in the first half against Toronto.

The Celtics also played last night, dropping a game at home to the Chicago Bulls. Like the Raptors last night, the C's will be desperate to win after falling two games below .500 with their latest loss. The Celtics will also have revenge on their mind after the Pacers soundly beat the C's last Friday 87-74 to begin their current three-game losing streak. Speaking of streaks, the Pacers also look to remain undefeated at the Fieldhouse so far this season.

Here is the Pacers.com preview. For a Boston perspective, check out CelticsBlog. Also, after the game check out Pacers Overtime on WIBC 93.1FM with Eddie White. Need to have an Indy Cornrows mention on the show!

I hope people stop talking about those Granger trades.

Or about how he sucks. Hey, let’s trade him for Monta Ellis. That guy never takes bad shots or hogs the ball.

I hope they're just hungry

Cause I’m kind of hungry, but I don’t feel like doing anything about it right now.

Celtics have barely been able to hang with teams that have a pulse, so I hope that prevails. This is going to be a really hard game though. Hopefully being at home sparks these guys.

Liking what we're seeing here thus far.

On a side note, I’m watching how Philly does tonight. The Sixers and Pacers are the only two teams in the league with seven players in double figures. I’d like to see which team blinks first.

But yeah, let’s see if that holds up. Highly doubt it.

Jeff "THE MONSTER" Foster

True story, I was in O’Charley’s in Noblesville “conducting business” when Jeff Foster walked in and occupied the urinal next to me. I will say, without shame, that I violated the number one rule of bathroom etiquette – I looked directly at him and said, “Hey, Mr. Foster.” He merely nodded his head. Best. Day. Ever.

A few opinions.

New York is a bad team. Atlanta is a good team that caught a bad break. The Celtics are too old to contend anymore. It will be us and Orlando battling for that 3rd/4th spot. We may be able to beat out Philly for the 3rd spot.

by Jmahoney on Jan 14, 2012 9:18 PM EST reply actions

Philly, Orlando, and Atlanta (with Horford)...

…probably have more talent in their starting 5. But only Philly has the depth to beat us out if we stay healthy AND DO THAT….yes Roy and PG

Yeah.

He’s doing a good job not overusing that. Just when he feels it, take the defense by surprise and get a quick easy 2. I’m loving it.

Stats are pretty good. I think if the 13 assists were about 50% higher the field goal percentage would be better….In fact, we’re probably about 6 or 7 terrible Tyler shots from shooting 45%

Hansbrough and Foster. Granger missed a lot of twos but made up for it with his treys.

Why can’t he finish at the rim? He grabs an O board and then airballs a layup. How?

… but it’s definitely a step up from his season 30ish %.

by Jmahoney on Jan 14, 2012 9:33 PM EST up reply actions

Competition hasn't been great

But this team is doing everything they need to do against teams they should beat. It’s good to know that crapper in Detroit is (for now) an anomaly. See if they can’t take care of business in Sacramento and Oakland before they face some stiff teams.

West coast trip

Coming up is looking interesting. We could go 2-1 maybe 3-0 depending how things turn out. Could be huge going forward

by The_Dawson on Jan 14, 2012 9:40 PM EST reply actions

2-1

Should be expected. Warriors feel like a wild card. Gotta take care of business against the Kings, and I am really excited to watch them play the Lakers, both to see how they stack up and also because Kobe is in Eff You mode and I want to catch one more glimpse of that while I still can.
