Around SBN: NFL Owners Vote to Change Trade Deadline

Houston Trade

I am thinking that a trade with houston would be awesome.  I have to use cap fillers, so I threw in two crap players to fill in.  but the trade can be a little different once money is off the books.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=3fall7y

Pacers get the 14th and 23rd picks and Jordan Hill,( Thabeet, Williams. ) = throw in players

Houston Gets - Granger, Price

Pacers get a Defensive PF/C in Hill and two additon picks.

At 14 you take Singleton for Defense

At 15 you take Klay Thompson (reggie miller like)

At 22 you take Jeremy Tyler - he will have time to develope.

pg - Collison / Stephanson

SG - Thompson / jones / Free Agent

Sf - George / Singleton / williams

PF - Hill / Hansborough / McBob

C - Hibbert / Tyler / Foster / Thabeet

Thats a decent Roster!!  Thats a trade where houston isnt giving up to much to retain there final piece. What you think?

I love the idea of getting Jordan HIll, but I don’t see Larry giving up Granger. He doesn’t want to take a step back in order to take two forward in the near future. That being said, I would still think Hill could be had on the cheap so if we can get it done I think we should go for it.

NO

we would be rebuilding all over again with this trade. absolutely not.

Harper's on Miller, McKey, gets in to Miller for the win and...

Not for me, no thanks.......

not enough for sure talent coming back IMO.

I like Singleton, but I think Michael Grady, just let everyone know that “Brooks is clownin at workouts and has knocked Klay out of consideration at 15.” Both are working out today for Pacers I believe.

love the idea of trading w hou

But couldn’t we get more for granger? Id demand hill, budinger, thabeet (not just for trade machine, they really don’t have the space to not include him) their two firsts and a protected 2013. Then we could trade rush and the 15 for the 28 and 30 from chi. Take singleton, Selby or brooks, Tyler, jajuan johnson and keith benson. No friggin way between those five, hill, budinger and the 2013 a granger level talent doesn’t emerge.

Yeah, for sure like your trade better Luke.....

except for the Rush part,Lol

Seriously though, your right, we’d have to get more for Granger than Jordan Hill and filler.

by Justin Arnold on Jun 7, 2011 8:26 PM EDT up reply actions

are you serious?

Houston would never do that. Granger is a good player but is he really worth 3 fist round picks, and 3 young players? That’s just not realistic. Your final point sums it up well, between a #2 overall, a #8 overall, a #14 ,a #23 and probably a top 20 pick of course you get a good player. As a rockets fan i would literally disown the team if this trade was made.

by BuckeyeBob on Jun 12, 2011 6:38 PM EDT up reply actions

I agree about we could get more for Granger

Im one of those fans that wouldnt trade Granger unless it made the overall team better. With that being said, I would only make a trade with Houston for Granger is if we get Luis Scola and at least the #14th pick.

Houston Trades
Luis Scola, Thabeet and the 14th

Indiana Trades
Granger. Hansborough and Price

Then we can draft Marshon Brooks and Kenneth Faried. And in the second draft either Norris Cole or Iman Shumpert. In FA we can pick up Marcus Thornton and Reggie Evans Then Resign Foster.

ROSTER
PG- Collison/ Norris or Iman
SG- Marcus Thornton/Marshon Brooks
SF- Paul George/ Dahntay Jones
PF- Luis Scola/Kenneth Faried/Reggie Evans
C- Hibbert/ Foster/Thabeet

marshon brooks is not worth the 15th pick

there is a reason why he isnt even mentioned as a potential lottery player.

The 15th pick is not exactly a coveted "can't miss" area in the draft.

This is the perfect opportunity to take a risk on someone that has a higher ceiling (e.g. DG). Your stance on Jimmer and his alleged superiority to Brooks is clear. While I think Jimmer has the ability to be a fine NBA player (shooter), his ceiling is clearly limited. Brooks on the other hand may fizzle into nothing, but the chance that he develops into an all around beast of SG is there. I think with the position we’re in, we’re better suited taking that risk than selecting the safer pick that is Fredette.

by Abe the Hoosier on Jun 7, 2011 10:54 PM EDT up reply actions

FYI......

DG was not a risk, we actually got unbelievably lucky he fell to us.

by Justin Arnold on Jun 7, 2011 11:13 PM EDT up reply actions

Didn't we just talk about how injuries were a concern...

and his “chronic knee tendinitis” issues. Sounds like a risk to me. Yes, in retrospect, the knees weren’t that big of deal and he panned out as an excellent value where we got him, but that’s still a risk. I’ll agree that it’s a different type of risk with Marshon Brooks (boom or bust) and not injury concerns, but the principle of the argument remains the same.

by Abe the Hoosier on Jun 7, 2011 11:27 PM EDT up reply actions

I disagree.

I think Marshon Brooks is perfectly acceptable at 15. I actually wouldn’t be surprised to see him go in the lottery at this point.

Thug Life. It's a Pacers thing, you wouldn't get it.

by infinityzero.systemerror on Jun 8, 2011 6:46 AM EDT up reply actions

Actually...

That’s perfectly within his range. He may not grade out to a top-15 pick in most drafts, but in this one that’s looking like right where he’ll be available.

Actually,

He is beginning to be talked about as a lottery type talent. He’s considered one of the top 2 SG in this class with Klay, and apparently his workouts have been better.

by Rogco on Jun 8, 2011 8:00 AM EDT up reply actions

I think Burks would rate as the top shooting guard followed by Thompson and Brooks. I actually think Burks may fall to us

by pendulum55 on Jun 8, 2011 10:27 AM EDT up reply actions

That was the consensus...

until Brooks started “clowning” on Klay Thompson in workouts. I think Burks is still in his own tier, but after that, it’s a crapshoot. But personally, give me the upside of Marshon Brooks.

by Abe the Hoosier on Jun 8, 2011 10:54 AM EDT up reply actions

I do like this approach better.

But that’s alot of IFs. And I don’t like the lack of defensive-mindedness that seems to be the theme with this roster. Not to mention how overall thin we become at the wing.

by Abe the Hoosier on Jun 7, 2011 10:50 PM EDT up reply actions

Scola's too old

He’s like 31. If I’m rebuilding w/o Granger I’m not interested in Scola. Likewise the Rockets are probably only interested in combining Marting/Scola/Granger, not swapping Scola for Granger. Like us, they have no real stars.

This is pretty close to reasonable

would you ever do rush instead of one of the others? or Hill instead of Thabeet?

than Klay and Marshon? I honestly dont know

allowing him to play the point at times
