Simple post - who do you want?
Outside of the top 4-5 guys with no chance of slipping, who is your ideal draft pick for the Pacers? And explain - is it for long-term or short-term impact, what skills do you want him to bring, etc.
Personally, I'm back on the Bismack bandwagon, mainly after reading the interview with him on Grantland the other day. The guy is really long and athletic and works his ass off. More importantly, he sounds like a really smart kid who's still learning the game and has plenty of room to grow. Potential is one thing, but potential mixed with smarts and willingness is something else.
Okay, to be honest, I'm just in love with Serge Ibaka's game and want a guy like that. Bismack won't be that good right away but in a few years could get there. And yes, I know he probably won't drop to us, but you never know, especially with guys that don't have a lot of experience.

Defense and rebounding are two things we need.
But I think the most pressing issue is a guy who can come off the bench and score. That’s why I would like to draft Jimmer, Brooks, or Burks if he falls. I beloved its easier to address rebounding and defense thru free agency.

Chad Ford
as of today has us drafting Markieff Morris, but letting Burks slide by us? Singleton too.
This would be a big disappointment.
I honestly do get this gut-wrenching feeling that Burks will still be on the board and we will pass on him. Singleton, however, I doubt will be there.

Scoring FIRST and if not Post Defense and Rebounding
1) Fredette
2) Walker
3) Brooks
4) Tristan Thompson
5) Marcus Morris or Biyombo
If
We remain at #15 then I’d say go for Markieff Morris and #42 JJ or J.Tyler if they drop if not then Benson…yeah I know, all bigs. But I am also thinking Paul, Lance & Darren will provide MORE scoring punch than last yr. If needed then sign a shooter in July…Stuckey, Thornton, Redd.

Leonard
WOW, I just saw where K. Leonard has fallent to #14, I would make a trade to get him as a hot 2&3 valuable back up
***Forever Grunge...Man!***
Seriously!!
Leonard can back up Paul & Danny…Play incredible D….Hit that shot….create baskets for himself AND others. I dont think Posey, Rush or Jones are nearly capable of ANY of the mentioned bright spots as Leonard. I’d take the dude, he will automatically be a 6th man. Plus he has that huge wing span as well.

Top 3:
Tristan Thompson
Alec Burks
Biyombo
If we trade Rush for an additional first rounder:
Reggie Jackson
Darius Morris
Singleton
Love to trade up for an early second round. Chad Ford has these players available who all could be first round picks:
JaJuan Johnson
Josh Selby
Tyler Honeycutt
Darius Morris
Jeremy Tyler
And it's now my sig

I'm looking long term
The rapid evolution of the Heat pretty much blew up the idea of Larry’s 3 year plan yielding a contender when the Celtics started showing their age. I want a young team that makes the playoffs and embraces the scrappy underdog role. That is a team we can field for years and have our chances at the playoffs. I believe the best way to do that is to continue building depth rather than trying to interchange starters. When you look at successful franchises, they reload instead of rebuilding. When a 19 or 20yo 1st round draft pick can start for you from day one you have a pretty bad team. The Pacers have been there. Its now time to start putting young potential guys behind our starters so that in a couple of years they will be ready to push for those starting minutes, giving us the flexibility to move starters for better assets rather than trading and slipping back into the lottery.
In this draft I see those players as Jimmer, Singleton, Johnson, Tyler, and the Morris bros. These are all guys who could contribute to spots 7-10 in the rotation and grow into future core players.
I like Brooks’ skills, but I think he has head case written all over him.
Singleton
Burks
Bismack
Jimmer
Brooks
If Kemba falls it’s going to get really interesting.

1. Burks/Singelton-I’d be fine with either. I think Singleton fills a bigger need positionally, but Burks fills a bigger true need (bench scoring).
2. Walker/Fredette-Either would be fine as backup scoring options who can handle PG minutes.
3. Tristan Thompson-Actually my #2 PF (If you consider Singleton a PF) who has a chance of slipping to us.
4. Marcus Morris-I like him more than most on this board. I think he’s one of the few guys in this draft who is almost guaranteed to have a long NBA career.
5. Bismack/Markieff Morris/Klay Thompson-I’d take any of these guys over Brooks
6. Darius Morris/Brooks-More of a consolation prize, but I’d take either in a trade back.
Darkhorse: Nikola Mirotic
Pipe Dream: Jonas Valanciunas
Just for fun: Kawhi Leonard (we dont’ really need him and he probably will not fall, but he’s hella fun to watch)

My 4
Bismack Biyombo
Klay Thompson
Jimmer Fredette
Alec Burks
Singleton or bust
If there’s any realistic scenario where he’s available and we don’t do it I’ll be upset. He WILL make all defensive teams.

IF he can stay healthy…

SG or PF
1. Tristan Thompson
2. Alec Burks
3. Morris twins
4. Marshon Brooks
Im not sold on Singleton either- A slow undersized PF? Ya his D is good but after watching his game tape Im just not impressed. I personally think we need a slasher that can finish at the rim and score in bunches. And a PF that can be dominant in the paint and bang. And that can finish at the rim and not get blocked by a damn point guard
