Regal FC Barcelona fell on the road, 78-67, to Panathinaikos Athens this Thursday, March the 31st, on game four of the EuroLeague quarterfinals series and is now eliminated.
Indiana Pacers’ Erazem Lorbek started and logged 27:41 of playing time. Lorbek scored nine points on 3-of-7 shooting, grabbed four boards, dished four assists and recorded a couple of steals.
Despite the solid numbers, Lorbek did not play well again. Struggling bad against PAO’s physical post protection, the Slovenian couldn’t set position the entire first-half as the Greeks crowded the paint to close the passing lanes for post entries.
Without getting his touches on offense, Lorbek did not give his best effort on defense, failing to chase anybody and crash the boards affectively. He was the weakest link of a system that was abused by PAO’s pick-and-roll and allowed 40 points in the paint.
The defending champions go down and will not have a chance to defend their title at their home court as the EuroLeague’s Final Four will be hosted at Palau Blaugrana this season.
