Regal FC Barcelona dropped game-two of the EuroLeague’s quarterfinals to Panathinaikos Athens, 75-71, at home this Thursday, March the 24th, and the series is now tied at 1-1 as the venue shifts to Greece.
Indiana Pacers’ Erazem Lorbek started and logged 29 minutes of playing time. Lorbek scored seven points on 2-of-6 shooting, grabbed four boards and recorded a couple of steals.
It was more a free-flowing game than Tuesday’s but Lorbek had a quiet effort. Barça didn’t run as many sets for him on the low post and he just didn’t have his shot from the outside today (1-for-4 from beyond the arc). Defensively, he failed to keep Mike Batiste off the offensive glass.
Barça led by 10 at the half and was relatively in control but got overwhelmed in the second-half, getting outscored 47-33 after intermission. Diamantidis, the front-runner for the league-s MVP, scored 15 second-half points and dished five second-half assists. PAO also hit seven three-pointers to fuel that run.
The series resumes with game-three next Tuesday, March the 29th, in Athens.
