The race for the East's number 1 seed is wide open. At this point, the Bulls are up one game against the Celtics. The Bulls, Celtics, and Heat could each grab the number one spot in these last ten games. All of them have similar schedules.
My guess is the Bulls will hold on to first, the Heat will take second, and the Celtics will finish third as they try to work Shaq back into the lineup for the playoffs.
Do the Pacers have a chance at the seventh seed? With the Knicks playing poorly of late, the Pacers could theoretically pick up the seventh seed. But the Pacers remaining schedule isn't exactly a cakewalk, so the seventh seed is unlikely for them, unless the Knicks have really gone off the deep end.
Personally, I think the Pacers have the best chance against the Celtics in the playoffs. Even though the Pacers beat the Bulls recently, the Bulls were without Boozer, and they'll be even better with him in the lineup. The Celtics, meanwhile, haven't been playing well lately, and Shaq may not even be a force when he gets back. The Heat seem too athletic for the Pacers as well.
