IC Cold Links: Pacers Need To Come Back Strong Against Bulls
The end of the NBA regular season is in sight, less than a month away. If the Indiana Pacers want to play past their last game at Orlando Magic, they have to maintain the type of effort they put for last night, even if it did result in a loss to the Boston Celtics.
Sometimes you run into a better team playing just as hard. The breaks aren't falling your way, nor are your shots. It happens, but there's no reason to change course. The Pacers have had wild fluctuations in mood, effort and results throughout the season. Because of that, there's no time left for anything but a consistent, grinding effort over the remaining 14 games.
Keep grinding away and the shots will fall, you'll make your own breaks and win some games you're not expect to win. Tomorrow night against the Chicago Bulls would be a nice start, but if not so be it. No time for a confidence lag, go at Memphis on Saturday with the same fervor, and so on. Mental toughness hasn't been this teams strong suit throughout this season, but now is the time to show some resolve.
Speaking of the Bulls, congratulation to Nate Sperka, winner of the MS Awareness Night Ticket giveaway for the game on Friday night. Also, still have a few hours left to join the Indy Cornrows NCAA Tournament Pick 'Em for site bragging rights. Thanks to bleedinblueandgold for setting it up!

Aside from the blatant foul calling in favor of the Celtics, those yellow Pacer uniforms are f*cking horrible. They look like walking bananas. Bring back the pinstripes baby!
Someone said it earlier but instead of the Yellow, we should wear throwback Jerseys.

10000000% agree with this statement
The Pacers have some nice throwbacks. Feel free to break them out every once in a while.
I do feel that this offseason is ripe for a jersey change.
Minority, here
I like the yellow unis. They have a “Michigan” feel to them. I guess they could follow everyone else and try to mix in black into an alternate.
thats his name on here?
is that nathans s.? or what

It might not look too unbiased
If I were to win, haha. But congrats to Nate for the win and a good combination of first name and last initial.
cool thanks...
Congratulations nate sperka. very jealous.
Thursday nights
I was thinking how depressing it is to be a Pacers’ fan on Thursdays since they never get a TNT nod. It makes me wonder, though, if Indy makes the playoffs and gives a good showing for a game or two, does anyone think they could get a TNT game next season? I guess it could depend on not only their playoff performance, but also on what they do in the offseason. The Pacers have played some pretty entertaining games against the Heat and Knicks, maybe they can get one of those matchups scheduled on Thursday next season.
Danny has a batcave!????
Thats so awesome!

Boston is a 2nd best defense in the NBA. There is a reason shots are not falling for their opponents. In the last 10 games Celtics No. 2 defense has been holding opponents to 88 points per game. Better than their season average.
So when you say :
<blockquotThe breaks aren’t falling your way, nor are your shots.e>
There is a reason for that. So why think shots will start falling v Bulls who have the No. 1 on the season and that in the last 10 games is superior to the Celts defense in allowing only 81 pts per game. They are best in rebounding -/, second best in pts -/, best in opponent fg %, defending the 3 . . . . .
That’s why they win. They make teams shoot from the perimeter at the end of the shot clock, contest those shots, and then gather the rebound. On the other end, they attack the pain, very often they miss but get the offensive rebound and go again. They grind you down in half court offense.
To beat them, you need to grind right back and beat them at their own game. Yes maybe a miracle game where long two pointers and fade away shots go in at a high % is possible. But that win is pure luck that you cannot come back to in the playoffs and say, let’s do that again.
