I believe that this deal NOT happening was best for us. O.J. Mayo demands attention, demanded more shots in Memphis, fights with teammates on airplanes, and is a terrible defender. I suppose I could get over all of that if he was actually having a good year. But come on people he is averaging 12.1 PPG, 2.5 RPG, and is barely shooting 40% from the field. Where does he fit into the scheme of things here in Indy?
If you want to blame Larry Bird, go ahead (I was certainly in that boat a few years ago). But keep in mind that he brought in Collison, allegedly had a deal for Dunleavy before he broke his hand (conspiracy? haha jk), and brought in Paul George in the draft (and also is forced to work with David Morway everyday). Larry Bird knows what he has and knows what its worth. The key to a good trade is not only finding a good value, but a good fit for your team. O.J. Mayo just would not be a good fit here. Then again, that is just my opinion.
