Now that Bird and Morway have signed or traded for a bunch of blue collar big men, I wonder what they have in store for us as a back-up perimeter guy who can score and hopefully defend also. Our bigs are nice. From Hibbert and West to Foster and Tyler then Pendergraph and Amundson, all can contribute in their own way. The guards are a nice mix also. Collison and George followed by Hill and Lance or Jones. Not bad. Some analysts are already calling the Pacers the deepest team in the league. However, in the 3 spot, our only back-up to Granger is George. Should George start, that leaves essentially no quality scorer coming off the bench to relieve our best scorer. The second unit of the opposing team can then gang up on Tyler who is probably the worst passer in that unit but will still get a lot of touches because he is the only one other than Hill capable of putting up points in that unit.
So what does management have on the table to spell Granger? Redd was rumored to have visited a few days ago and that seems to have fizzled out already. Other than that, I have not heard anything from anywhere regarding a back-up wing. But I still have hope. For the past 2 years, Bird has been full of pleasant surprises. Besides, I heard that there's going to be a Dec. 22 announcement. While I doubt that it's a personnel announcement, you never know.
Here's hoping we get a quality Granger back-up before the season starts. To help management, maybe we should give them our wishlist in the hope that Bird and Morway read this fanpost and get a brilliant idea from it.
Who is on your wishlist? And if you're up to it, tell us why. (sounds like a high school quiz)
