What Are Your Expectations This Season
Our roster is all but set and the preseason is upon us FINALLY.
So what are some of your expectations for the 2011-2012 season? Both good and bad. Some of my expectations are after the jump...
- I expect Danny Granger to shoot at least 45% from the field.
- I expect 7 Pacers to average double figures on the year
- I expect our second leading scorer on the year to average more than 13 points a game like last year.
- I expect Collison to provide some resistance on the defensive end. And if he doesn't, I expect Vogel to bench his ass.
- I expect Hibbert to be steady all year. No more confidence issues and taking a dive halfway through the year. I also expect him to get 9 rebounds a game.
- I expect us to end up at worst a 6th seed (Miami, Chicago, Boston, New York, and Orlando or NJ depending on who gets Howard).
- I expect David West to miss nearly 10 games due to his knee and the ridiculous lock out shortened season schedule.
- I expect to look at the George Hill trade midway through the year and say, "that trade helped both teams."
- I expect Paul George to hit a snag sometime during the year and then see this place start to question how good he is. I then expect him to rebound and remind us how good he can be if he continues to develop.
- I expect Lance Stephenson to behave 100% all year. No locker room problems. No crazy women. No prostitutes. I also expect Lance to disappoint me on the court. I hope I am wrong though.
- I expect many NBA teams and players to complain about Hansborough and Foster after the game when they send half their team crashing into the floor.
- I expect us to try and make a trade at the trade deadline. I expect Rush to be apart of that deal. I expect the deal to fall through.
- I expect the Miami Heat to meet the Thunder in the finals.

Expect nothing
The colts have taught me not to have expectations. I expected the colts to be super bowl contenders now their on the brink of 0-16. Let’s just say I hope the young players continue to develop & the pacers keep up their improvement on the defensive side

I expect..
The Pacers to win more than 35 games. More importantly, I expect this city to support this team with warm bodies in attendance at Conseco Fieldhouse. I was embarrassed for the Pacers and Indianapolis last year when we faced the Bulls in the playoffs here at home. Me and my wife went into the game for entertainment and left emotionally bruised.
I haven’t been that frustrated regarding basketball since that bogus Larry Johnson foul call in 1999 resulting in a 4-point play.
I ain't done..
I expect this city to stand up and cheer for their team tonight. By that I mean, the Pacer fans. If I see a sea of black and red take over the stadium tonight upon entry, I’m goin’ home dude!!
nothing worse than bulls fans
they all look like disgusting insects that you just want t o step on.

Nice list
Ha ha, I really liked this one:
I expect us to try and make a trade at the trade deadline. I expect Rush to be apart of that deal. I expect the deal to fall through.
I’ve really tried to support Larry throughout the years, and, ultimately, I think he’s done a pretty admirable job, but if I had one criticism, it would be his incapability of consummating a deadline deal.
I, too, expect a Thunder vs. Heat finals’ matchup.
One new one: I expect Hansbrough to be in the discussion for Sixth Man of the Year. If not this season, then some time in the near future.
I expect Collison to have a better year
I expect slight improvements from Roy
I expect all around better chemistry
I expect the Pacers to advance to the 2nd round of the playoffs

I expect
To advance to the ECF. No joke. This team has that type of talent. We don’t have Dunleavy, Murphy, and those guys. We have ballers. We have Hill and DC, PG and DG. HIbbert and West. Hansbrough, Lance. This team is going to compete and win ball games. Gone are the days we lose to teams like Toronto, Charlotte, and other weak teams that were 50-50’s. Those are gonna be wins now. I feel like games going against the elite’s i.e. Dallas, Miami, LA. Last year we turned a corner. This year, we blow the doors off of everyone. And nobody will see it coming.
After I put LA
That was supposed to say we are going to win some of those, and not be by luck.
I expect Lance will surprise everyone,
I expect DC assist number to climb to around 7.5
I expect West to have 15ppg and 7.5 reb.
I expect roy to get 16ppg, 10reb, 3 asst, 2.3blk, And a shot at the all star but falling short eventually to Brook Lopez because Lopez has higher scoring per.
I expect George to surprise the league with his defense and definitely make the all sophomore team during the all star.
I expect the Pacers to be a top 5 defensive team
I expect the Pacers to give the bulls a run for their money in the division
I expect the Pacers to reach the 4th seed
I expect the Pacers in the second round at the very least and maybe in the ecf depending on matchup and injuries respectively on the Pacers and on the opposing team
I expect Vogel to win the coach of the year award
I expect Larry Bird to win the executive of the year award
And I expect a preseason win tonight!

I EXPECT NOTHING LESS THAN A CHAMPIONSHIP
But seriously…I’m putting money on the Pacers with those tasty 75-1 odds.
I expect…
- People to blame Danny Granger for most of the Pacers’ losses
- People to call for a Danny Granger trade (and the possibility that it might actually happen by mid-season)
- People to call for a Brandon Rush trade (and the possibility that it will NEVER happen…and that some hidden clause will be found in his contract that nobody noticed that gets him on the team’s roster next season, and for all of us to look at the camera and scream when we realize it’s all a horrible dream)
- To make incredibly-accurate stat-line predictions, because they’re so easy to make:
Collison: 13 and 7 (apg) in 32mpg
George: 12 and 5 with a rare 2 and 2 blocks and steals line in roughly 30 mpg (and dpoy consideration)
Granger: 18 and 5 and improved shooting in lowered minutes (35ish a game)
West: 15 and 7 in 28 mpg and 60 games played
Hibbert: 15, 9 and 2 blocks in 30 minutes
I expect 6th man of the year award consideration for George Hill, COY consideration for Vogel and a 40+ win year for the Pacers, with a 33 win (.500) basement and a 45 win ceiling.

Anythings possible..
Granger being traded – Highly Unlikely!
40 wins.
I have high expectations for the pacers this year, but theyre reasonable.
tom me, anything less than the second round of the playoffs is a disapointment.
Theyll be the 5th seed and will play boston or NY in round 1.
Player predictions. because theyre fun.
Granger- With improve every statistic but ppg. He’ll be an all around better player and more of a leader, He’ll will make the all-star team.
Collison- will be more of a floor general and control the game. His ppg wont change to much but his assist number will rise up 8 a game.
west- will have a slow start, but finishes strong and will be the paces second leading scorer, maybe even first. His leadership and expierience will show through out the season.
Hibbert- he didnt pack on 15 pounds of muscle for nothen. he will be consent dominant force on defense. over 2 blocks a game. his offense however will be inconsentent. about 9-10 boards a game.
george- Will tease us with flashes of potential, and as he will be more consentent this year, it wont be his breakout year. he will play great defense though.
Hill- will not dazzle us with his stats, but will have a great year. and he’ll will go off in some games and have over 30.
Hansborough and foster- U pretty much all-ready know. theyre going to piss alot of players off this year. and im going to love it. 100 percent effort everytime theyre on the court.
Stepehenson- will eventually steal prices minutes. be inconsent but show flashes of his potential just like george.
jones- will be a defensive stopper and steal rushs minutes.
alot of optimism but reasonable
I expect....
The pacers to give Miami sleepless nights
The pacers to expose the knicks and show the world that their team is only 2.5 players deep
The pacers to battle Chicago for supremacy in the central division
Other than the aforementioned expectations, I expect nothing but a fun season.
PG for MIP?

I expect...
…us to need another C/PF…especially center.
I love Hibbert, but he’s best when he starts, but plays in the 24-28mpg range. That puts quite a bit of presure on a guy like Foster who’s abused his body for 12 years for that big blue and gold ‘P’ up there. At 35 (by the 4th week of the season), it’s hard to imagine he can be counted on for 20+ minutes per game 3-5 nights a week in this condensed season.
If we can a.) get a legit 2nd teir center like Dalembert, b.) get some kind of miracle resurgence from Jeff to where he’s playing like he’s in his prime with no health set backs all season, c.) get some 3rd tier Center like Spencer Hawes or Aaron Gray and get the most out of him and hope that Hibbert can give us 30+mpg with no struggles if Foster goes down.
I expect West to lack some explosiveness for much of the season and Hansbrough’s solid effort and improved shooting/decision making to have us all wondering why we bothered spending $10mil. on West.
I expect Hill and Collison to give us play that we appreciate, but sort of make us wish we could combine them into one dominant, scoring, passing, defensive PG.
I expect Granger to extend losing streaks with wanning effort, but I hope I’m wrong with this one. I was very disappointed in his play last spring. His effort was pathetic and his shot selection displayed a clear lack of intensity and determination. However, I was very impressed that he was able to handle the pessure of the playoffs and made a complete attitude turn-around, played hard and was almost a leader out there.
Paul George is going to be a very valuable asset some day. Great shooting and ball handling can be refined, but it is something that requires some natural born inate talent and I’m not 100% sure that he’s got that yet. I think he’s got the stroke to be a strong shooter, but with our lack of playmakers and ball-handlers, I’m not sure he can be counted on to create his own shot. I think he’ll disapoint those with high expectations this season, but I think he’ll give most of us fans enough to know he’ll continue to be a player that helps us win more than lose.
Stephenson- Shrugs Idunno.
Rush and Jones- I think both will play and contribute a little more than most of us expect. I also believe that Rush won’t do enough to be a part of this team next season and to clear minutes for Danny, PG, Hill and Jones, Bird will settle for a 2nd rounder (and maybe even take back a useless expiring salary if needed) or something and move Rush at the deadline.
Ultimately, that’s what I expect and I think even with those seemingly bleak predictions we can finish 6th or 7th in the east…we could even finish 4th or 5th if most of the above could come to pass.
If we can solve the lack of center depth (any of my a, b, or c scenarios), Danny plays hard and smart, West stays healthy, Hansbrough and West compliment each other well sharing the PF minutes and all our young gaurds improve, we can go very, very far based on depth, effort, surprisingly solid talent, and team work/chemistry. We have a good group, but there’s plenty that could go wrong. I like this group. If they can move the ball, help on D, take smart shots, and crash the boards….and of course stay healthy…we could beat any team in the league right now…but that’s alot to ask.
2011/2012 Indy Pacers-
38-28 .576, 2nd place central division, 5th in the East
13th in the league in scoring
6th in the league in scoring defense (9th in %)
96-87 loss in game 7 of the 2nd round to the Miami Heat.
